ACT 1.Opening Scene.
[Lincoln, Michael and Nika are in Nika's car
driving along a deserted rural highway. Lincoln is at the wheel, Michael
shotgun and Nika in the back.]
Nika:
What happens when you get to Mexico? Where will you go?
Michael: It's best if you don't know. It's best for everyone. We'll drop you
off in the next town, and I'll wire you that 10,000, like I said. Shouldn't
take more than a week or two.
(Lincoln checks his driving mirror, noticing a
Sedan coming up really fast.)
Lincoln: Michael, we got company.
(The car behind accelerates fast.)
Lincoln: What the hell's he doing?
(Michael turns around to look behind them. The car
is almost on top of them.)
Michael/Lincoln: Hold on! Hold on!
(The car crashes into them, trying to drive them
off the road. Nika screams.)
Michael: Who is it? Who is it?
(The Sedan drives up beside them. Lincoln looks
across.)
Lincoln: It's Bellick!
(Geary, at the wheel, bashes the Sedan into Nika's
car again. Nika screams, Lincoln fights to retain control of the car. He pushes
his foot down on the accelerator.)
Michael: Hold on, hold on.
(Geary drives up ready to smash into them again.)
Lincoln: Duck! Down!
Michael: Hold on, hold on, hold on...
(Geary smashes their car again.)
Michael: Can this thing go any faster?!
Lincoln: What do you think?!
(Geary smashes the car again, this time causing
Nika's car to swerve around.)
Michael: Look out!
Lincoln: Hold on!
(An oncoming truck forces Geary into Lincoln's
lane, but as soon as it passes he broadsides them, noses the big sedan into
Nika's little car and shoves them clean off the road.)
Michael: Look out! Look out!
Lincoln: Hold on!
(The car takes out a bouquet of mailboxes and
crashes into a large tree. Dazed but generally okay, the three of them get out
of the car. Bellick fires his gun into the air.)
Bellick: Nobody move! (he fires the gun again.) Nobody move!
(Michael, Lincoln and Nika freeze.)
Bellick: Oh, good to see you again, boy.
Lincoln: No need for anyone to get hurt, boss.
Bellick: Boss? Oh, there's no need for formalities anymore there, Sink. I'm no
longer an employee of the state, thanks to you.
Michael: I think somebody wants that reward.
Bellick: Oh, it's not about reward money, friend. Your pal Manche told me all
about your little treasure hunt for Westmoreland's stash. Get in the car. We're
going to Utah.
OPENING CREDITS.
[1. EXT. Field. Day.]
(Bellick and Geary march them over the field at
gunpoint to the car.)
Bellick: All the cops all over the country when all they had to do was tail
the tail, you know. Move that moneymaker, sweetheart.
Geary: Let's move it, convict!
(He shoves Lincoln onto the hood of the car and
Lincoln notices the headlight is broken. He drops down and picks up a shard of
it, sliding it under the wheel of the sedan.)
Michael: If you know about the money in Utah, why do you need us?
Bellick: In all the excitement of the escape, Manche didn't hear all
Westmoreland said before the old bird kicked the bucket, but he heard enough.
(Geary yanks Lincoln back to his feet.)
Bellick: Utah and five million. You'll fill in the blanks.
(Bellick grabs Nika by the hair and she whimpers.)
Michael: Hey!
Bellick (pointing the gun at him): Don't even think about getting cute,
smartass. Now you and your brother are gonna take me right to where that money
is or the whore gets dead real fast. Ask me if I'm bluffing.
(Michael raises his hands in defeat.)
[The car drives off, the shard of headlight lodging
in the tyre.]
[2. INT. FBI Field Office. Day.]
(Mahone sits in the command central office, staring
at a photograph in a file marked 'Oscar Shales'. Agent Wheeler enters, and
hands him some articles.)
Agent Wheeler: The dredging of the river beneath Scofield's
apartment bore some fruit. Found a hard drive under the riverbed. Serial
numbers match an order that Scofield put in with Dell a few months before he
was incarcerated. They've recovered about 12 per cent of the data so far.
(Mahone looks at the articles Wheeler handed him. The
first's headline is 'D.B. Cooper Myth Still Alive Despite Conviction'. The
second's headline is 'Governor's Daughter Wins Humanitarian Award', with a
picture of Sara Tancredi. The third is about 'Life Sentence For Mob Boss
Abruzzi'.)
(Mahone gets up and walks out of the office, into
the main room. He pins the articles to the board, which is topped with the
photos of the Fox River Eight.)
Wheeler: And this is helping us how?
Agent Lang: Blood tests came back. B negative all over that
crash site. Scofield and Burrows are...
Mahone: B negative. I know.
Lang:
I'll reach out to the media.
Mahone: How about don't?
(She stops, uncertain.)
Mahone: If it gets out that the guy who...who masterminded this whole thing
is possibly dead, the other six cons are gonna get their guards up even more. It
is our policy... (to the whole room) Excuse me! It is our policy (he
hits the board with his fist) not to announce deaths until they're confirmed.
(He storms away.)
Lang:
We found an exploding car and a blood match.
Mahone: Well, then do more tests.
Lang:
On what?
Mahone: On the bumper. I don't know, I don't care. Just delay. I want those
guys out there getting more complacent, not more careful.
[3. INT. Debra Jean's car. Day.]
Woman on Radio: The Iranian government promises to forge ahead with
its nuclear program. In national news, the eight escaped convicts from Fox
River Penitentiary in Illinois are still at la--
(Tweener stares at the radio in shock, then presses
a button to change station.)
Debra Jean: I was listening to that.
['Take Me Home Country Roads' by John Denver is now
playing.]
Tweener: Yeah, I wanna hear this.
Debra Jean (disbelieving): Really. You like John Denver?
Tweener: Yeah!
(Debra Jean smiles. Tweener starts singing.)
Tweener: Country ho! Take me home...to your place...I've got cash...country
ho...in West Virginia...take me home, my country ho!
Debra Jean (laughing): Don't quit your day job.
Tweener: What?
(They laugh.)
Tweener: No, I just need a little tequila to get my karaoke on.
Debra Jean: Yeah.
(Tweener spots a cop with a speed gun.)
Tweener: Hey, yo, slow down.
Debra Jean: We're doing like 65 in a 60...
Tweener: Yo, slow down!
Debra Jean: All right, Dad!
(They pass a second cop.)
Tweener: You know, we can't be havin' that, man. Tickets are like, 200 bones.
Debra Jean: Yeah.
(She seems a little suspicious.)
[4. EXT. Rural highway. Day.]
(They have stopped for a toilet break. Michael,
Nika and Lincoln stand by the car and Bellick guards them while Geary is a few
meters away in the trees.)
Bellick: I never thought I'd say this, Scofield, but I thank God for the day
you walked into Fox River.
Geary: And out of it.
(The pair of them chuckle. Michael looks at Nika.)
Michael: It's gonna be okay.
Nika:
I don't wanna hear from you right now. You told me nothing would happen. You
promised me.
(She storms back into the car.)
Bellick: Oh, that's one pissed off commie you got on your hands there,
Scofield. Didn't your mama tell you how to treat a lady? Or was she a whore
like this one?
(Lincoln slams the car door, furiously advancing on
Bellick.)
Michael: Linc!
(Bellick cocks his gun, pointing it at Lincoln.)
Bellick: Got a problem there, Burrows?
(Geary comes over, his gun drawn as well.)
Geary: We only need one of you to take us to the money. Remember that.
Michael (to Lincoln): Let's go, buddy.
[5. INT. NA meeting. Day.]
(Sara sits on a pew, listening to someone who is
sharing.)
Ralph: I'd been really drunk at the wedding speech…and this was the first
time that we’d spoken since then. And it was cleansing. It was really
cleansing. Thank you.
(The group bursts into applause. Sara claps lightly
too.)
Counselor: Good share, Ralph. Well, we’re out of time, unless there are any
burning desires…
Kellerman: Actually I’d like to…if there’s time?
Counselor: Of course.
Kellerman: I'm Lance, and I’m an addict.
Group: Hi, Lance.
Kellerman: My mother died of MS last week. She just…gave out...Just like my
grandfather did, just like my sister did. Just like I...
Sara:
Um…if I may...Lance, MS isn’t usually considered genetic.
Kellerman: Really? What are you, a doctor?
Sara:
Uh, I am, actually. Uh…sorry. (She turns back to the front.)
Kellerman (wiping his eyes): Thank you.
(The group claps.)
[A black car pulls up outside a restaurant - day.]
[Title Card: Brooklyn, New York.]
[6. INT. Restaurant kitchen. Day.]
Mobster: All right everybody, face the wall and look straight ahead.
(The workers do as they are told. John Abruzzi
enters, wearing an expensive coat and designer sunglasses.)
Mobster: Eyes front. (to Abruzzi) How was your flight?
Abruzzi: Bumpy. Everything's ready?
Mobster: We got a container ship down at the navy yard. Captain's one of ours.
He's got a stateroom listed as a cargo hold on the manifest. You and your
family will be on it when it sets sail tomorrow. Six days from now, John,
you'll be in Sardinia.
Abruzzi: Good work.
(He walks into the back room and removes his
sunglasses, smiling.)
Abruzzi: Sylvia.
Abruzzi's Son: Dad!
(His son and daughter run to him and he scoops them
up and hugs them.)
Abruzzi: Yeah...
Sylvia: We missed you.
Abruzzi: Yes.
(They kiss.)
Abruzzi: I missed you too. It's over. It's over.
[Title Card: Friend, Nebraska.]
[7. EXT. Garage. Day.]
(T-Bag pulls up in Dr. Gudat's SUV. He makes his
way over to the restroom.)
[8. INT. Restroom. Day.]
(T-Bag dumps a small bag on the sink, containing a
bunch of pills, a stethoscope and a nasty looking scalpel. T-Bag swallows a
handful of painkillers and looks in the mirror, putting his hands up on it.)
(He punches his reattached hand with his good fist,
willing some life back into it.)
T-Bag: Come on!
(He grunts with pain but the hand remains
unresponsive. He picks up the scalpel and punctures a hole in the middle finger
of his bad hand.)
T-Bag: Come on, come on...
(The finger bleeds but there are no reflexes.)
(A young hippie hitchhiker opens the restroom door.)
Hippie: What the hell are you doing?
T-Bag: Mind your own business.
(He shoves past him and is about to return to the
SUV when he notices a cop car on the forecourt and a cop nosing around the SUV.
T-Bag stops and presses against the wall, panicked. Then he heads back to the
restroom.)
[9. EXT. Road. Day.]
(Bellick and Geary stare at the tyre which has gone
flat.)
Bellick: What kind of son of a bitch doesn't have a spare tyre in his car?
Geary: The kind that already used it.
Bellick: Then you're just the sad sack that has to go back into town and get a
new one.
Geary: What? That's like three miles!
Bellick: That's right.
(Geary sets off, not happy.)
Bellick: All right, everybody out. That way. Go on.
[10. EXT. Woods. Day.]
(Nika stumbles. Michael reaches out to steady her.)
Michael: Careful.
Nika:
Don't touch me!
Michael: Just relax.
Nika:
You know, I believed everything you told me, and I did everything you asked. I
risked my life for you. For what, for 10,000 dollars I risked my life? And this
entire time you had $5 million just waiting there. You're a bastard, Michael.
(She walks off ahead.)
Bellick: For all that aggravation, I hope you get to hit that a few times,
Scofield. Ba-ba-boom. We're gonna wait it out in that shack.
[11. INT. Shack. Day.]
(Bellick herds them all in.)
Bellick: Just keep moving. Come on. Come on, come on. Fantasia, get going.
Nika:
I need to talk to you. Alone.
Bellick: What do you want?
Nika:
To ruin his life. Like he's ruined mine.
ACT 2.
[12. Gas station. Day.]
Officer: And what did you see, sir?
Jerry Curtin: I was overheating, so I pulled in. This car was
already here.
Officer: What about you?
Attendant: Oh, I was reading. I didn't see nothing.
(T-Bag limps out from behind the wall.)
Officer: Hey, buddy! Where you coming from?
T-Bag: Me? I was just hittin' the head, boss.
Officer: What's your name?
(T-Bag limps over.)
T-Bag: Clyde. Clyde May
Officer: You got any ID, Mr. May?
T-Bag: I don't drive anymore, so I don't really have any ID per se. (He
lifts up his reattached hand.) Camel jockey left a big box of boom-boom
under my jeep back in Kandahar.
Officer: You military?
T-Bag: Was.
Officer: Which one's your vehicle?
(T-Bag gestures to his feet.)
T-Bag: These two sleds right here. That is, the in-between rides, anyhow.
Officer: Ain't much of a bag to be hitchhiking with.
T-Bag: I travel light.
Officer: You're just hoofing it out here, middle of nowhere?
T-Bag: I do have the right to see a little bit of the country I lost my hand
for, don't I? Why don't you tell me what this is all about, officer?
Officer 2: We got a vehicle here without a driver. And at present, you're the
only driver without a vehicle.
T-Bag: Hell, is that what this is all about? Why didn't you say so? Dirty
hippie kid dropping a deuce in the facilities. He came in with that car not two
minutes ago.
Officer: Check it out.
(Officer 2 goes across the court. The first officer
walks up closer to T-Bag.)
Officer: What were you, Army?
T-Bag: Hell, no. Corps.
Officer: Well, then, semper fi, brother. What outfit were you?
T-Bag: Hundred and ninety-sixth.
Officer: Hundred and ninety-sixth? Never heard of it. Where they out of?
Officer 2: Hey, sarge.
(He drags the hippie over and holds up a set of
keys.)
Hippie: Hell, man, I didn't do nothin'!
Officer 2: Found these in his knapsack, after he said he had no car.
(T-Bag sneaks a little smile.)
Hippie: What?!
(Officer 2 puts him in the squad car.)
Officer (to T-Bag): Semper fi, brother.
T-Bag: Semper fi.
[13.
INT. Shack. Day.]
(The brothers are tied to a pipe. Lincoln struggles
next to Michael.)
Michael: Stop stressing. It doesn't do any good.
Lincoln: Maybe you oughta start stressing if they're gonna put a bullet in our
heads.
Michael: They need us. They need us to get that money.
Lincoln: I admire your optimism. She's rolling, man. I can feel it.
[14. INT. Shack. Day.]
(In another room, Bellick talks to Nika.)
Bellick: So you wanna ruin Scofield's life? Well, get in line. What are you
really looking for?
Nika:
Same as you. Money.
Bellick: Money? You want money? Ten grand. How's that sound? We do it right
now, right there on those floorboards.
Nika:
Not in a thousand years.
Bellick: Beat it, then. You got nothing else I need.
Nika:
Typical man. I'm talking about millions of dollars and you'd piss it away for
sex.
Bellick: That's right.
Nika:
And I was hoping you wouldn't let Michael outsmart you too.
Bellick: Scofield ain't outsmarting no one.
Nika:
You think that tyre went flat by accident?
Bellick: What are you offering?
Nika:
I can find out where the money is. He trusts me.
Bellick: What do you want?
Nika:
My fair share.
Bellick: You find where that money is and your fair share is $200,000.
Nika:
Out of five million? That's not very...
Bellick: I got the gun, girl. You're lucky you're a partner at all.
[15. INT. Restaurant back room. Day.]
Abruzzi: I'll be right back.
(He leaves his family at the table and walks over
to the mobster who he was speaking with earlier.)
Mobster: Fibonacci's in DC.
Abruzzi: Yeah, and he's in Denver, Atlanta, Miami...I know.
Mobster: No, no, no. This time it's for real. He's testifying again. He's in
Washington right now.
Abruzzi: Is this information any good?
Mobster: It's from New Jersey. Fishhead Tommy wants to pay tribute.
Abruzzi: Get the car.
(The mobster runs out, and Abruzzi turns away to
meet a slap round the face from his wife. She slaps him again, harder, and this
time the kids jump and look up.)
Sylvia: Look at this room, John! Look! We can be a family again. But you
wanna risk it all, disrespect us, and for what, for vengeance?
Abruzzi: He betrayed me...
Sylvia: I don't care!
Abruzzi: He betrayed us. I'm sorry you will never understand what
happens...when you're in prison.
Sylvia: But you could go back to prison.
Abruzzi: I swear to God, I'd rather die than go back. There's no going back.
Never, ever again.
Sylvia: Christ saved you, John. Don't turn your back on him. Don't turn your
back on us.
(She puts a gold crucifix in his hand.)
Abruzzi: I...
(Sylvia puts her head on his chest and he cradles
her.)
[16. EXT. Roadside. Day.]
Debra Jean (on phone): I don't know, about twenty miles
from Gunnison. He's coming. I have to go.
(She hangs up as Tweener approaches.)
Tweener: Who was that?
Debra Jean: Nobody. It's just my father.
Tweener: A'aight.
Debra Jean: Hey, listen. Do you mind if we stop at the next
motel?
Tweener: It's only like, 4:00.
Debra Jean: Yeah, but we've been driving forever.
Tweener: That's cool, I'll drive.
Debra Jean: I really just wanna stop.
Tweener: But if we get on the road now, mayb...
Debra Jean: Scott. It's my car, and I'm tired of being in it,
okay?
Tweener: A'aight.
[17. INT. FBI field office. Day.]
Lang:
Heard about the call coming in.
Mahone: Can you believe it? Of all the players in this thing, it's the rat
that could give us our first collar.
[18. INT. Shack. Day.]
(Bellick and Nika rejoin the brothers.)
Bellick: If you guys need to use the can, hold it. (to Nika) You need
to tinkle, sweet pea, I'll watch you anytime. Sit down.
(She sits next to Lincoln.)
Bellick: Hands behind your back.
(He ties her to the pipe then walks back into the
other room.)
Lincoln: Took your time.
Nika:
It takes time to gain a man's confidence. (to Michael) You're right.
He'll bite on anything I say. You just tell me where we trap him, and I'll tell
him that's where the money is.
[19. EXT. Highway. Day.]
(T-Bag slowly walks across a bridge. A car pulls up
next to him, honking its horn.)
Jerry Curtin: Hey, you're the guy from the gas station, right? I'm
the guy who was having car trouble. Seems to be purring along now, huh? Yeah.
Water pump. 200 bucks for this heap!
T-Bag: They'll get ya.
Jerry: Look, I hope I'm not out of line...but I heard you telling the cop
back there about your hand. My old man was killed in Nam when I was a kid. So I
have the utmost respect for our servicemen.
T-Bag: Just serving my country.
Jerry: A lot of us are grateful for it. Listen, if you need a ride or
something...
T-Bag: Well, to be honest with you, my dogs are kind of barking.
Jerry: Well, all right. Jerry Curtin.
(He offers his hand. They shake.)
T-Bag: Clyde. Clyde May
Jerry: My kid Danny is riding shotgun, I hope you don't mind sitting in the
back.
Danny: Hi, I'm Danielle.
(T-Bag finds himself looking at a pretty teenage
girl, about 14. She smiles at him.)
T-Bag (smiling): Hi, yourself.
[20. INT. Shack. Day.]
Nika (calling): Hey!
Bellick: What do you want?
Nika:
I need to use the bathroom.
Bellick: Again?
Nika:
I have a small bladder.
Bellick: That ain't all you got.
(He cuts her ties.)
Bellick: Get up.
(She gets up and goes into the next room. Michael
and Lincoln glance at each other.)
[21. INT. Shack. Day.]
Bellick: Well?
Nika:
They plan to trap you. The big one, he's got friends in Utah. Criminals. A town
called Panguitch. They grow drugs on a farm there. They'll tell you that's
where the money is, but...no money. Just old friends with guns, waiting for
you.
Bellick: Easy enough. We take a pass on Panguitch. Where's the money really?
Nika:
I'll find out soon enough. But 200,000 was old price for this information. I
want a new price.
Bellick: She's trying to renegotiate.
Nika:
If it wasn't for me, you'd be face down in a marijuana farm. One third.
Bellick: It's gonna take a lot more than information if you want a
million-six, sweet pea.
Nika:
Such as?
Bellick: You know. Piece of that can, anytime I want it.
Nika:
Is that it?
Bellick: Aren't you gonna slap me?
Nika:
I've slept with men for a lot less, trust me.
Bellick: What happened to 'never in a thousand years'?
Nika:
That was negotiating. (She moves closer, flirtaciously) So...deal?
Bellick: Deal.
(They kiss.)
ACT 3.
[22. INT. Restaurant Back Room. Day.]
Sylvia: We got 150,000 here, John. With Vittorio's place in Solanos, we'll be
able to live off the interest.
(The children are sitting alone.)
Sylvia: Where's your father?
[CUT TO: A car driving down the interstate.]
[Title Card: Interstate 95. North of Washington DC.]
[23. INT. Car. Day.]
Mobster: Everything all right, boss?
(Abruzzi deftly manipulates a gun in the back seat.)
Abruzzi: Yeah. Let's get this over with. So I can get back to my family.
[24. INT. Shack. Day.]
Michael: She'll get it done. Nika and I have come too far together.
Lincoln: When money's on the line, you trust no one.
Michael: Sometimes you have to.
Lincoln: Not if you wanna survive, you don't.
Michael: You really don't trust anyone, do you?
Lincoln: Can you blame me? After all that's happened?
Michael: No, I mean before that. Before prison.
Lincoln: Every time I trusted someone, I got burned. Every time I got close to
someone, I got screwed. I know better, and so should you.
[Shot shows the Lotus Motel - day.]
[25. INT. Motel room. Day.]
Debra Jean (on the phone): That's right, the Lotus Motel. I
don't know the number. I can't talk anymore, I have to go.
(Tweener enters with a couple of sodas and an ice
bucket. He puts them down.)
Tweener: Well, check it, I know this might be a little forward and all, but
uh...let me ask you somethin'. You got a man? I mean, a boyfriend? No, what am
I think? You're Mormon, you gotta...
Debra Jean: I'm not Mormon. You think all girls from Utah are
Mormons?
Tweener: They are, aren't they?
(Debra Jean rolls her eyes at him and goes into the
bathroom.)
Tweener: Well, yo. Hey, then you can party, right? Hey.
(Debra Jean shuts the door in his face.)
[26. INT. FBI field office. Day.]
(Camera pans across a large poster of Tweener, as
Mahone gets ready to move out.)
Mahone: When I land, I want 12 armed agents waiting for me on the ground. Tell
them I wanna go straight to the motel from the airstrip.
Wheeler: You got it.
[27. INT. Church reception area. Day.]
(Sara's considering the refreshments after the NA
meeting.)
Kellerman: I was an ass before. I apologize.
Sara (stiffly): A little bit. (She hands him the juice.) Here
you go.
Kellerman: I was a huge ass. I apologize.
Sara:
I'm not gonna argue with you.
Kellerman: Well, what are the odds that you're actually a doctor?
Sara:
Uh, fair enough. They're probably not good, but...um. And I should not have
interrupted you, and I'm sorry.
Kellerman: I'm sorry, too.
Sara:
Well, then, apologies accepted. I recommend the blueberry pie.
Kellerman: Blueberry pie it is.
[Camera shot of a large word 'Motel' on a sign.]
[28. EXT. Motel. Day.]
(Danny sits by a pool, reading a magazine. T-Bag
approaches her.)
T-Bag: Hey there, Danny.
Danny: Hey.
T-Bag: Sure was nice of your daddy to buy me a room for the night.
Danny: Yeah, he's always helping out with vets and stuff.
T-Bag: Yeah. Good man. But I was wishing we could've kept going on toward
Utah. Lots of light left in the day, lots of road to go.
Danny: When Dad's back acts up, we stop.
(He looks at the cover of her magazine.)
T-Bag: "Young Miss"? That's kinda insulting, isn't it?
Danny: Hm?
T-Bag: I mean, you're a grown woman. (She stares at him and he chuckles) But
adults are always trying to infantilize girls your age. Treat you like
children.
Danny: No duh. My dad won't let me get earrings, and I'm 14.
T-Bag: You see, that's what I mean. You are more than perfectly capable of
making your own decisions.
Danny: Tell my dad that.
T-Bag: Yeah, but he won't wanna hear it, right? Because he wants to keep you
as a baby. Right? Even though you're more than old enough to choose...how you
wanna dress...or accessorize...
(He puts his arm around her and she panics.)
Danny: What are you doing?
T-Bag: Just in need of a friend, that's all. You know, I'm not any good
at...
Danny: No, no. I'm telling my dad!
(She runs off towards the motel and T-Bag chases
after her.)
T-Bag: Wait!
[29.
INT. Motel. Day.]
(Jerry has a protective arm around his daughter,
both of them glaring at T-Bag.)
T-Bag: She's got it all wrong.
Jerry (to Danny): Wait outside.
(Danny leaves. Jerry picks up an iron and wraps the
cord around it threateningly.)
Jerry: You and I are gonna work this out.
T-Bag: Jerry, you really don't want to do this.
[30. INT. Shack. Day.]
(Nika is giving Bellick a sultry lap dance.)
Bellick: The thing I like about you is your determination.
Nika:
I have a family in Kladno that have been waiting for me to send for them.
Bellick: They know what kind of work you're in?
Nika:
They think I work at Starbucks.
(She kisses him and climbs on his lap, her hand
reaching up onto the shelf where the gun is. But Bellick's onto her, pushes her
off and snatches the gun.)
Bellick: How stupid do you think I am?
(He throws her back into the next room with Lincoln
and Michael.)
Bellick: My daddy always said 'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, and
I put you in the ground'. Any more games and I stop the hooker's air,
understand?
(He reties Nika to the pipe.)
Bellick: Thanks for the dance, sweet pea.
(As he walks away, his hand reached for his
sheathed knife, and he's stunned to find it gone.)
Bellick: You bitch!
(Lincoln grabs him from behind, the knife to his
throat.)
Lincoln: Fooled ya.
ACT 4.
[31. INT. Shack. Day.]
(Geary rolls in a spare tire.)
Geary: I carried it, the cons can change it.
(He turns to see Lincoln training a gun on him.)
Geary: Oh, you really suck, Bellick, you know that?
Michael: Roll him. Let's go.
(He ties Geary up next to Bellick, Nika helps.)
Michael: Hands behind your back. (to Nika) Thank you.
(She smiles.)
Bellick: You're as stupid as the prison doc, you know that?
Michael: Ignore him.
Bellick: He conned her too. Made her think he loved her. Look what she got. An
overdose and a shot at 30 years on the inside.
(Michael is shocked, glances at Lincoln.)
Michael: What are you talking about?
Bellick: Guess you haven't been reading the papers, have you College Boy? Cops
found your girlfriend fish-belly white, gargling her own puke.
Michael: Shut up.
Bellick: What do you care? As long as she left the door open for you.
Michael: Shut up!
Bellick: Hit a sore spot, didn't I?
(Michael kicks him in the face. His extreme
reaction does not go unnoticed by Nika.)
[32. EXT. Motel convenience store. Day.]
(Danny comes out of the store with a soda. She sees
her dad's car driving up.)
Danny: Dad?
(But it's not Jerry driving, it's T-Bag, and he's
wearing Jerry's baseball cap. He has a few cuts and bruises on his face but
clearly he's won whatever battle transpired. He stares at her as he passes.
Danny drops the soda can in horror.)
[33. EXT. Church. Day.]
(Sara and Kellerman/'Lance' are sitting outside on
the stoop, eating blueberry pie.)
Kellerman: It really is, like, the best pie I ever had. Do you know what it
needs though?
Sara:
Hm?
Kellerman: Some crack.
(Sara snickers.)
Kellerman: No, I mean it, you know, not a lot. A pinch.
Sara:
A pinch of crack?
Kellerman: A pinch of crack. A pinch of crack, a dollop of smack. Mm. That's
good pie.
Sara (laughing): That's so wrong.
Kellerman: No? (He laughs.)
(Sara's cell phone rings.)
Sara:
Okay. (She licks her fingers and answers it.) Hello?
Michael (o/s): Sara. It's me.
Sara:
What do you want?
(She moves off the stoop, stunned.)
[CUT TO: Michael in the shack.]
Michael: I don't have time to talk. There's every chance they're listening to
this call right now. But there's a lot I want to say. Please don't hang up on
me.
Sara:
I don't...I don't wanna talk to you.
Michael: I heard about...I heard about what happened.
(Kellerman is watching Sara suspiciously.)
Michael: And I want you to know...I want you to know how sorry I am. For
everything.
(Nika stands at the end of the shack corridor, watching
him.)
Sara:
Sorry's not gonna do me a whole lotta good with what I'm up against right now.
Michael: Listen. Anyone with any ties to me and my brother is in danger now.
Sara:
I have no ties to you and your brother anymore.
Michael: There is a way I can protect you. It's already in your possession.
Sara:
What are you talking about?!
Michael: It was real, Sara. You and me. It's real.
(He hangs up.)
Sara:
Michael? Michael?
(Kellerman looks grim. He knows she was talking to
Michael Scofield.)
[34. EXT. Road. Day.]
(Mahone is on the road, several black SUVs and
police cars following him.)
Mahone: How long to the motel?
Driver: Approximately ten minutes, sir.
Mahone: Let's make it five.
[35. INT. Motel. Day.]
(Tweener steps out of the shower room, a towel
wrapped around his waist.)
Tweener: Ooh. Yo, I haven't taken a shower like that in forever.
(Debra Jean stands by the door with her messenger
bag over her shoulder.)
Tweener: Where are you going?
Debra Jean: I was gonna surprise you.
Tweener: Surprise me how?
Debra Jean: I was gonna get some tequila and limes.
Tweener: A'aight, well, hold up. I'll...
Debra Jean: No, no, no. It'll only take a minute. Stay here and
relax.
Tweener: You seem kinda nervous.
Debra Jean: I do?
Tweener: Yeah, you're sweating.
Debra Jean: Well, maybe I am nervous.
Tweener: Trust me girl, you got nothin' to worry about, a'aight? I'm one of
the good guys.
Debra Jean: You seem like it.
[Camera shot of a sign - The Globe Motel - day.]
[36. EXT. Globe Motel. Day.]
(A black sedan pulls up and Abruzzi gets out.)
Abruzzi: Hang on tight.
Mobster: I had the manager unlock the door.
Abruzzi: Got it.
(He walks over to room 116 and opens it, pulling
out his gun. He hears water running and makes his way to the bathroom.)
(Cars screech to a halt outside, and Abruzzi stops,
knowing he's caught.)
Mahone (o/s): If you're looking for the rat, John, Fibonacci's 2000 miles from
here.
Abruzzi: Who are you? Local cops or feds?
Mahone: Feds, John. Only roll out the best for a man of your stature.
Abruzzi: I deserve to know who turned on me! Tommy?
Mahone: The man was facing a RICO rap. He did not want to go to prison. I'm
sure you can appreciate that, knowing what you know about the place now. Whatever
you're thinking about doing, John - don't.
(Abruzzi looks at the gold crucifix in his hand.)
Mahone: You are going back to Fox River today, or the morgue. That's your
call.
Abruzzi: I'm coming out.
Mahone: Weapons come out first, John.
(Abruzzi kisses the crucifix.)
Abruzzi (whispers): Forgive me. (louder) Yeah, I'm coming out.
(He steps outside.)
Mahone: Easy, John. Easy.
Man:
He's got a weapon! Right hand!
Mahone: These are serious men here. They have instructions to shoot at the
first sign of aggression. Please, I'm asking you respectfully. Drop the weapon,
kneel, and put your hands on your head.
Abruzzi: I kneel only to God. I don't see him here.
(For a second, Mahone and Abruzzi stare each other.
Both of them know how this is going to end.)
(Abruzzi
raises the gun and points it at Mahone. Mahone ducks behind the car.)
Mahone: No!
(The
armed agents all fire simultaneously, Abruzzi is caught in the storm of
bullets. As he falls to the ground, his wife's crucifix falls from his hand.)
[37.
INT. Motel. Day.]
(Debra
Jean and Tweener sit drinking tequila.)
Debra
Jean: I think I screwed up. My dad's
an Air Force colonel. Total Nazi. One of those nightmare overprotective dads.
Tweener: Mm-hm. Yeah?
Debra
Jean: Well, I called him. Told him I
was traveling with you. Told him that we were staying in the same hotel room.
(They
both laugh.)
Tweener: Girl.
Debra
Jean: What?
Tweener: You got to learn how to lie. What were you thinkin'?
Debra
Jean: I don't know...yeah, for some
reason. I don't know how. He was mad enough when I told him I was staying in a
hotel room with a guy. That was one thing.
Tweener: Yeah, yeah.
Debra
Jean: When I told him I was staying
in a hotel with a guy I maybe sorta liked...he lost it.
Tweener: Wait...wait, what?
Debra
Jean: Is that okay?
(They
stare at each other for a second, then they kiss.)
[38.
EXT. Roadside. Day.]
Michael: At least let us take you into town.
Nika: No. If I'm seen with you, it's a lot of trouble for
me. I can walk. It's only a mile.
Michael: We never would've made it this far without you.
Nika: But now you're crossing the border. Without me.
Michael: You can't go where we're going. It's not a life for
you.
Nika: Then, that's it then. It's over for good.
Michael: Thank you.
(He
hugs her.)
Michael: Be safe.
(She
moves over to Lincoln and hugs him.)
Nika: Good luck.
(She
snatches the gun out of Lincoln's waistband and points it at them.)
Nika: I loved you, Michael. And I thought I was gonna get
that back, but you just used me.
Michael: That's not true.
Nika: I deserve more than this. I deserve more than just
being the girl that you call when you need something.
Lincoln: You really think you're gonna find the money in
Utah?
Nika: I don't care about the money in Utah! I don't want
any more crime. I turn you in, I get $200,000. Legal money.
(She
picks up the cell phone off the dashboard.)
Nika: You're the policeman's problem.
Michael: Nika...
Nika: Don't come any closer or I'll shoot you!
Lincoln: No, you won't.
(He
holds up the gun clip. Nika looks defeated. Lincoln takes the gun and the cell
phone out of her hands and gets in the car.)
Michael: Good luck to you.
(They
drive off down the road, Nika watches them go.)
[Camera
shot of the FBI central office, Chicago - night.]
[39.
INT. FBI office. Night.]
(Agent
Wheeler is sitting alone in the room, working, when Mahone walks in.)
Wheeler: Hey.
Mahone: Hey.
Wheeler: Um...HQ called. They're asking why you didn't
intercept Abruzzi when he was walking towards the motel.
Mahone: The man was a mob boss. The right move was to get
him trapped.
Wheeler: They're saying the way you played it, there was only
one possible outcome.
Mahone: HQ has a problem with the way I do things, they can
pick up a gun and follow me into the field next time.
(He
looks at the mug shot of Abruzzi on the wall. Underneath is pinned the article
on Abruzzi's sentence thanks to Fibonacci's testimony.)
Mahone: Scofield always knew the rat was the key to Abruzzi.
We just put it out on the wire and Abruzzi bit.
(He
takes a red pen and crosses out Abruzzi's face in the mugshot.)
Wheeler: Speaking of Scofield, the crash was staged.
(He hands Mahone a file.)
Mahone: Pig blood. Smart kid.
(He looks down at his desk, seeing the file of
Oscar Shales. The photo stares up at him.)
Mahone: The problem with being that clever is that sooner or later, you end
up getting too clever for your own good.
(He stares at Michael's mugshot, seeing flashes of
Oscar Shales.)
Wheeler: Good night.
(He leaves. Mahone reaches out and rips Michael's
picture off the board, crumpling it. He stares down at it on the floor, and
speaks to it, ominously.)
Mahone: You have no idea what you're in for.
