ACT 1.

Opening Scene.

[The action continues from the previous episode.]

(Jeanette Owens tries to bite T-Bag's arm to get out of his grip. T-Bag presses the pick harder on her throat.)

T-Bag: You try that again, I'll pry those vocal cords right out of your throat!

(Michael looks out the window at the female police officer.)

Michael: She's coming up.

T-Bag: What's she doing?

Michael: She's coming up here. Stay there, stay there.

[The cop wipes her feet on the step, then enters the house.]

Ann Owens: Hey Mom, you home?

(Michael and T-Bag glance at each other in shock.)

Michael: Stay here. Stay quiet.

CUT TO: Ann, putting her keys down on the side. Then she notices the broken glass and ice all over the kitchen table and floor.

Ann: Mom?

(Her hand goes to her gun holster, and she makes her way upstairs. Behind her, C-Note, Sucre and Lincoln are pressed up against the wall, hiding.)

CUT TO: Michael and T-Bag, waiting anxiously.

CUT TO: Ann, taking her gun out. Suddenly, Jeanette screams and Ann runs into the bedroom, gun raised.

Michael: It's okay. It's okay.

Ann: Back away and put your hands up!

Michael: Just go easy!

T-Bag: Go nothing! She ain't the one carrying the cards here.

Ann: Back away and put your hands up.

T-Bag: I put my hand up, I'm gonna take her jugular with it.

Ann: I don't want anyone to do anything stupid, okay?

(Sucre sneaks up behind her, but she catches him with an elbow to his face. She points the gun at him.)

Ann: Don't move!

(Lincoln grabs her from behind and disarms her.)

Lincoln: Let's be civil. Stop, relax. Here you go.

[Title Card: Tooele, Utah. Tooele Police Department.]

[1. INT. Tooele Police Department. Day.]

(Mahone walks through with Lyle Sands.)

Sands: Guy at the garden center said Burrows was strong as a gorilla.

Mahone: It was 1pm when they tangled it up.

Sands: Yeah, guy ID'd both of them. Scofield, Burrows. No doubt about it in his mind. Course, that was 1pm, those two could be 300 miles from here by now.

Mahone: You have a half a dozen picks, shovels and power tools missing from that store. They're here and they're digging.

Sands: Five million dollars buried somewhere beneath the streets of Tooele. You really believe that?

Mahone: They believe that. And that's the important thing.

Sands: They could be anywhere now. We don't have the units to go door to door.

Mahone: And we won't need them. He's gonna tell us where to look.

(He walks up to the window of an interrogation room, where Tweener is sitting alone at a table.)

OPENING CREDITS.

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois.]

[2. INT. Grocery Store. Day.]

(Sara nervously moves through the store as Kellerman chats.)

Kellerman: It's so funny, uh, I was just about to text you. Today's your lucky day.

Sara: Is it?

Kellerman: Yeah, my Aunt Maxine finally gave me her famous chocolate chip cookie recipe. And if you're free tonight, I'd love for you to be my guinea pig.

Sara: Uh, I can't. Not tonight.

Kellerman: Come on, you sound just like Daniel. "Not tonight, not tonight".

Sara: You know what? If you don't mind, I've actually gotta go.

Kellerman: Um...

(He puts a hand on her cart, stopping it moving.)

Kellerman: Are you okay? I mean, your cart's empty...

Sara (trying to smile): I'm good, yeah. I just gotta go.

Kellerman: Sara...

(She walks away from him. He knows something is wrong.)

[3. INT. Jeanette's House. Day.]

(Ann and Jeanette, both tied up and gagged, sit next to each other on chairs. Sucre closes the blinds.)

Michael: This is going wrong in every possible way.

C-Note: This is stupid, man. We cannot do this!

T-Bag: Hat's over the wall now.

C-Note: What the hell is that supposed to mean?

(T-Bag closes another set of blinds.)

T-Bag: I mean, we committed. It's time to go get the hat. We don't have a choice.

C-Note: Yeah we do. (to Michael) We can walk right up out of here right now, man.

T-Bag: And then what? We are already in the house. Those women are bound. We have already committed this crime. We leave, it ain't gonna change any of that.

(Michael walks away from them all.)

Michael (quietly): Why couldn't there just be a silo in the middle of a field with no one around?

Lincoln: We'll figure it out and get the money another way.

Michael: Yeah, maybe I can rob another bank. You know what Charles once said to me? He said, "There's no such thing as an ex-con". Because I used to think there was a way we could wipe the slate clean. Make up for everything we've done. The hat's over the wall, Linc. For everyone.

(He walks over to the two women.)

Michael: Sorry isn't gonna mean anything to you right now. But I wanna say it anyway. This wasn't supposed to happen. One or two hours tops, and we'll be out of here. You have my word, no one will harm you.

(He walks over to Sucre and lowers his voice.)

Michael: Keep your eyes open, okay? Nothing happens to them. Nothing.

[Camera pans over to T-Bag, who's staring at the women.]

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois.]

[4. INT. Kellerman's Office. Day.]

(Kellerman's on the phone in his office.)

Kellerman: The doctor is suspicious.

CUT TO: Bill Kim, his office.

Kim: She should be. She was on the line with the governor when you walked up.

Kellerman: You were listening.

Kim: Both lines are tapped. We're not rookies.

Kellerman: Did her father tell her what he found?

Kim: Not over the phone. But he knows who you are. And so does she. Seeing how she was supposed to lead you to Scofield and eventually to Burrows, it looks like we're back to square one.

Kellerman: Not necessarily. There are other people they care about.

Kim: The kid. LJ.

Kellerman: Now, in terms of the governor, Bill...

Kim: The Burrows kid, Paul. Focus.

[Camera pans over Chicago.]

[5. INT. Governor Tancredi's Office. Day.]

Secretary (on phone): Governor Tancredi's office, please hold. (She answers another line.) Governor Tancredi's office, hold please.

Sara: Is my father in, Chris?

Secretary: Just a second.

Sara: Okay.

Secretary (on phone): Governor Tancredi's office...

(Sara spots Bruce Bennett.)

Sara: Hey, Bruce.

Bennett: Oh, hi, Sara.

Sara: I'm trying to get a-hold of Dad. I need to reach him on his cell.

Bennett: He actually just landed. Should be home soon.

Sara: Okay.

Bennett: I don't know if he's gonna be in much of a mood to talk though.

Sara: Why?

Bennett: Your father got a call from the White House. They withdrew his nomination.

Sara: What? I talked to him two hours ago, he didn't say anything about that.

Bennett: It just happened. According to them, his confirmation was going to be a problem.

Sara: We had the votes, right?

Bennett: Supermajority.

Sara: Okay, so President Reynolds pulled the plug on a sure thing, in order to start over from scratch? I...how often does something like that happen in politics?

Bennett: Never.

[6. INT. Garage. Day.]

(C-Note joins Michael and Lincoln digging in the hole. The TV is on in the garage, on the Fox News channel.)

Lincoln: Since when did we become kidnappers? It ain't right.

Michael: Well, we can buy a conscience tomorrow.

Lincoln: Yeah, well, yeah, closing your eyes ain't gonna make it go away.

Michael: I'll take five minutes of a situation I can control over 50 years of one I can't, any day.

(T-Bag is looking through a pile of National Anthropology magazines. He holds one up to C-Note.)

T-Bag: Hey, Mr. Hundred Dollar Bill. What's it like being with the African persuasion anyhow, huh?

C-Note: Yo, shut the hell up.

T-Bag: Oh, hit me a nerve.

(C-Note throws his shovel down and goes over to T-Bag.)

C-Note: Why don't you get in that hole and dig, huh?

T-Bag: How about you backing up, dark fella?

C-Note: You're a long way away from home, Trailer Park. I could put you in that hole and nobody would ever hear you scream.

Lincoln: Knock it off!

Newsreader: We have security expert Mark Bruni with us, who will explain how other prisons are ensuring that they are not victimized by the next Fox River Eight.

T-Bag: Should be the Fox River Seven, now that Abruzzi's taken his dirt nap. God rest the man's soul, of course.

Lincoln: Speaking of numbers, we're short one. Kid's taking a long time to fill that gas tank up.

[7. INT. Tooele Police Department. Day.]

(Lyle Sands exits the interrogation room, leaving Tweener alone.)

Sands: I leaned on him in every way I can think of. He's not talking.

(Mahone is silent. He walks into the interrogation room holding a file, and pulls the blind closed.)

[8. INT. Interrogation Room. Day.]

(Mahone sits across from Tweener.)

Mahone: Are you Catholic?

(Tweener glances up at him but says nothing.)

Mahone: Are you Catholic? Not much good in it. A lot of guilt. But the one good thing is confession. Whatever you got eating at you, you just give it up. Feels good, I have to say. Guess it's letting it out. Letting another human being hear --

Tweener (bangs his hand on the desk): I got nothin' to say to you, man!

Mahone: What if I told you something? A secret nobody else knows. Oscar Shales. A guy I was chasing a few years back. Smart as hell. I kept just missing him. It became kind of a game, like chess. Would've almost been fun if it weren't for the fact that he were killing people all along the way. Bodies kept stacking up, and I started to feel that it was because of me. Because I couldn't do my job. Because I wasn't smart enough. Never did catch him. But I did lose it. Saw things when I would drive at night. Bodies. Nightmares to the point where I couldn't sleep. It was a complete break from reality.

(He unscrews his pen, and empties the pills onto the table.)

Mahone: That's what these little guys are for. Keep me in the game. So now you know. Now it's off my chest. Ought to try it sometime.

(Tweener stares at him, then leans forward and looks like he's going to start talking.)

Tweener: Like I said before...I ain't gonna tell you nothin'.

Mahone: You know where those guys are.

Tweener: If you're lookin' for a rat, you got the wrong guy, man.

(Mahone opens the file on the desk. It's full of pictures of the dead Dr. Gudat.)

Mahone: No, I'm just trying to spare you some guilt. Bagwell was free less than 24 hours before he killed his first victim. If you don't tell me where he is now, he's gonna kill again. And that blood is gonna be on your conscience and nobody else's.

(Tweener stares at the photos, in shock and horror.)

Mahone: Confession might not be such a bad thing, huh?

[Title Card: Kingman, Arizona. Klipton Detention Center.]

[9. INT. Detention Center. Day.]

(A C.O. walks LJ down the halls.)

C.O.: He just arrived, LJ.

LJ: That's impossible. I don't have a meeting scheduled with my lawyer. He's a court appointed public defender in Illinois. I doubt he would come to Arizona without calling me.

C.O.: Let's go.

[10. INT. Kellerman's Car. Day.]

(Kellerman watches Sara leave her father's office. His cell phone rings.)

Kellerman: Yeah?

Bill Kim (v/o): We're all set in Arizona with the Burrows kid.

Kellerman: Good.

Kim: The kid's as good as gone.

[11. INT. Detention Center. Day.]

LJ: What'd you say the name of that lawyer was?

C.O.: Didn't give it to me. Gave it to the warden.

LJ: Then I wanna talk to the warden. Hey, you hear me?

C.O.: After.

(The C.O. pushes LJ into a room and closes the door. LJ looks around, bewildered. When he looks back, a man in a suit is in front of him.)

Man: Hello, LJ.

LJ: What do you want?

Man: They didn't tell you why I came here?

LJ: No.

Man: I'm an ADA here in Mojave County. I'm here to serve you with these.

LJ: What are those?

Man: Your release papers.

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois. Governor's Residence.]

[12. EXT. Governor Tancredi's Residence. Day.]

(Sara gets out of her car and approaches the house.)

Sara: Hey.

Aide: Ms. Tancredi.

Sara: Is my dad in?

Aide: In the study.

Sara: Great, thank you.

[13. INT. Study. Day.]

(Sara knocks on the door, then enters.)

Sara: Dad?

(She notices him over by the door. She walks closer, then covers her mouth in shock. Governor Tancredi is hanging from a rope over the door. She runs to him and pulls the rope, lowering him down. As she lays him down, a gold key falls from his pocket.)

Sara: Help!

ACT 2.

[Shot of Ann Owens' police car outside Jeanette's house - day.]

[14. INT. Jeanette's House. Day.]

(Sucre sits in the kitchen, with Ann's police radio, gun and keys beside him.)

Ann (mumbling through the gag): I need my pills. Please, I need my pills.

(Sucre stomps over to her and removes the gag.)

Sucre: What?

Ann: I need my pills.

Sucre: Forget it.

Ann: No, you don't understand. I need them. They're for my baby. They're Metformin, to prevent a miscarriage. Please. They're in the drawer in the kitchen.

(Sucre walks over to the kitchen.)

Ann: That one right there.

Sucre: How many?

Ann: Two. And water, please.

(Sucre gives her the pills and helps her sip some water.)

Sucre: Now I gotta put the gag back on.

Ann: Before you do, I just have one more question. You seem like a really good guy. Why are you doing this?

(Sucre puts the gag back in her mouth.)

Sucre: I'm not a good guy.

[15. INT. Garage. Day.]

(T-Bag watches the news while the other guys are still digging.)

Woman (on TV): And these changes, do you really think they'll help keep predators like Theodore Bagwell safely behind bars?

Man (on TV): Without a doubt.

(A mugshot of T-Bag appears on the screen.)

T-Bag: Picture makes me look like a sociopath.

(He walks around the garage and C-Note throws a shovelful of earth at him.)

C-Note: I'm not joking with you, Trailer Park. Now, get in here and dig.

T-Bag (angrily): I am incapable, thanks to all y'all. Just remember, my X marked the spot. You remember that.

Lincoln: We got a bigger issue. The kid. How long's it been since he left?

Michael: An hour and a half, maybe.

Lincoln: An hour and a half to fill a tank of gas? That ain't right.

(His attention is turned to the TV.)

Woman on TV: There's been a breaking development in the double-homicide prosecution of Lincoln Burrows, Jr. Due to the sudden disappearance of crucial blood and...

T-Bag: Hey, Linc, I didn't know you had a boy.

Woman on TV: ... the Cook County District Attorney's Office had no choice but to drop all charges against the 16-year-old. Burrows is scheduled to be released from the Klipton Detention Center in Kingman, Arizona where he's currently being held, tomorrow morning.

[16. INT. Kitchen. Day.]

(Lincoln storms through to the kitchen, followed by Michael.)

Lincoln: Keys to her car, where are they?

Sucre: Here.

Michael: Just hold on, okay? You can't do this. Linc!

(He follows Lincoln out into the hallway. Sucre watches them go.)

Michael: We are five minutes away in there!

Lincoln: We've been five minutes for four hours.

Michael: Just give me some time. Be patient.

Lincoln: You think I give a damn about the money?

Michael: I'm doing what's necessary.

Lincoln: You're afraid to fail. You're afraid this big plan of yours ain't gonna work out. You wanna get caught proving you can pull this thing off, be my guest. LJ's out there, I'm gonna get him.

(He goes to leave but Michael puts a hand on his arm, stopping him.)

Michael: We have come 1500 miles across country. We have made it this far.

Lincoln: Then I guess this is where we part ways.

[17. INT. Tooele Police Department. Day.]

(Tweener stands in the interrogation room alone. He's anxious, agitated, staring down at the photos of the deceased Dr. Gudat on the table.)

(Outside, Mahone watches him in silence.)

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois. FBI Field Office.]

[18. INT. Field Office. Day.]

Man: Any word on the interrogation this morning?

Wheeler: No, the kid's still stonewalling. But we've got confirmation on Patoshik, his prints were all over that old lady's house. So he leaves the cash and the jewellery. The only thing he steals is the $10 oil painting. What the hell does he want with that?

[19. INT. Camping Store. Day.]

(Haywire frantically dumps beef jerky and other items in a duffle bag. A dog in the store barks. Haywire stops. The store owner approaches, using a walking stick.)

Store Owner: Is there something I can help you with?

Haywire: What? No.

Store Owner: You know, it'd be a little easier if you used a cart for all that stuff.

Haywire: I'm just, uh...I wanted to see if it all fit in the bag. What happened to your knee there?

Store Owner: Motorcycle accident.

Haywire: Oh. So, uh...you don't move around too well then, do you?

Store Owner: Not really.

Haywire: Well, that's good.

(He bolts towards the door.)

Store Owner: Hey. Hey, hey!

(Haywire hurries away down the road, the barking dog walking after him.)

[20. EXT. Jeanette's House. Day.]

Lincoln: You can still come with me.

Michael: No, I could...I could do this.

Lincoln: And if you can't?

Michael: Then we still meet up. Exactly where we planned.

Lincoln: Bulshai Booze.

Michael: Bolshoi.

Lincoln: Bolshoi. LJ's gonna be with me.

Michael: You remember how to get there?

Lincoln: How can I forget?

Michael: Thursday night, six 'o clock. It's our last shot. If we're...um...if we do this right, we're gone forever.

Lincoln: A lot of ground to cover in three days.

Michael: A lot of ground.

Lincoln: All right.

(They hug.)

Lincoln: Take care.

Michael: They'll be gunning for you. They'll get you anyway they can, so...

Lincoln: Yep.

Michael: Tell LJ...tell him I said there'll be a surfboard with his name on it.

Lincoln: Nice. Bolshoi Booze.

Michael/Lincoln: Three days.

Lincoln: Keep your head down.

(He gets into the car and drives away.)

[21. INT. Governor Tancredi's House. Day.]

(Sara sits on the window seat, crying, as EMTs wheel out her father's body on a gurney.)

Detective: Ms. Tancredi? Hi. Um, I just wanted to let you know that the M.A., she's finished her preliminary examination of the body. She found no signs of foul play. I know it's a shock but we've also spoken to the detail guard stationed outside, and he didn't see anyone other than your father enter or exit the mansion since he came back from Washington.

Sara: My father's not a suicidal man.

Detective: Look, is there any extended family I should call?

Sara: I'm an only child, and my mother passed away. Could I have a moment, please?

Detective: Yeah.

(She wipes her eyes, and goes to pick up her bag from the floor. Underneath it is the gold key. She picks it up and pockets it.)

[22. INT. Tooele Police Department. Day.]

(Mahone puts a soda can in front of Tweener.)

Mahone: That's a hell of a good deal, son. I mean, we're talking no additional time on your sentence for the escape. You want it in writing, I'll put it in writing. We will put you up at Club Fed. You'll spend your days playing racquetball, with stockbrokers and lawyers. Four years from now, you'll be out on the street. Twenty-two years old, with a clean slate...and your whole life ahead of you. And no blood on your hands. Okay?

Tweener: There's a woman in the house. If you guys show up, they're just gonna turn her into a hostage. T-Bag, he ain't comin' out alive. And he's gonna take her with him.

Mahone: Let me worry about that.

Tweener: No, hell, no. The only way that that woman comes out free is if someone shows up on that porch that they trust.

Mahone: Being you.

Tweener: Being me.

(He opens the soda can and sits back.)

Tweener: I'll take you to 'em.

ACT 3.

[23. EXT. Street. Day.]

(Haywire stops running for a rest. There's no sign of the dog. He notices a boat parked in a driveway. He gets inside and finds a life jacket, puts it on. The dog appears again, barking. Haywire throws the bag down, and some beef jerky falls out. The dog eats and quiets.)

Haywire: Oh, you like...you like jerky? You like jerky.

[24. INT. Jeanette's House. Day.]

(Sucre gives Ann some water.)

Ann: What were you in for?

Sucre: I don't wanna talk, lady. (He gives Jeanette some water as well.)

Ann: I'm a prisoner in my own house. The least you could offer me is a little conversation. (Sucre stays silent.) All right. Just let me know when I hit it. Murder. Rape. Kidnapping. Sexual Abuse. Child Sexual Abuse.

Sucre: Aggravated robbery.

Ann: How long were you doing?

Sucre: Five years.

Ann: How much longer did you have left to serve?

Sucre: Eighteen months.

Ann: Why on earth would you break out of prison with--? (She realizes.) What's her name?

Sucre: Doesn't matter.

Ann: So, what? She was running away with another man? Maybe you should’ve let her go instead of...

Sucre: She's having my baby.

Ann: How far along is she?

Sucre: I don't wanna talk about it!

Ann: I'm two months. I just had my first-trimester sonogram on Tuesday.

(The police radio bursts to life.)

Woman (on radio): Ten-five. Dispatch to all units.

Ann: Has she shown you pictures of...?

Sucre: Shhh! (He grabs the radio.)

Woman (on radio): Transporting David Apolskis in FBI custody. Stand by.

[25. INT. Garage. Day.]

C-Note: Yo. This is gonna take all day. We need more manpower.

T-Bag (taking two pills): Well, standing around jabbering ain't gonna get that dirt outta that ground.

C-Note: All right, that's it.

(C-Note storms over and shoves him into the hole.)

C-Note: You son of a bitch! Now what?

(As they fight, Sucre comes running in.)

Sucre: We gotta roll.

Michael: Why?

Sucre: They got Tweener. It was on the radio.

(C-Note and T-Bag stop fighting.)

T-Bag: Nice knowing y'all.

Michael: Did they say anything about where we are?

Sucre: I'm not hanging around to find out.

(C-Note looks down at the hole.)

C-Note: Yo, maybe you should.

(He moves hit foot, seeing some money sticking out from the dirt.)

C-Note: Maybe you should!

(He starts digging at it, uncovering bundles of dollars.)

C-Note: Maybe we all should!

(Camera pans to all the smiling faces as C-Note picks up some of the money, laughing.)

[26. INT. Mahone's Car. Day.]

(Mahone drives, another agent fits a wire to Tweener in the back seat.)

Mahone: Let's go over this again. None of them were armed?

Tweener: Guns? No. Bagwell had a screwdriver or somethin'. Do we really need this, man?

Mahone: Yeah. In case you decide to do something stupid, like tip them off. You don't have a problem with that, do you?

[27. EXT. Beach. Day.]

(Haywire sits on the beach with the dog. He lays out a map, rope and compass.)

Haywire: Compass, check. Map, check. Rope, check. Okay. (to the dog) I bet you're wondering what we're doing down here by Lake Michigan, huh? It's because if you go far enough that way, you get to the ocean. You know what's out there. Holland!

(The dog barks.)

Haywire: We're gonna live in a windmill. All we need is a raft. I'm gonna build it. All starts with this...(He reaches down for a stick, then changes his mind and picks up another one) No, this stick.

[28. INT. Garage. Day.]

(The guys dig up the sack of money.)

C-Note: Charles Westmoreland, God bless you and your wrinkled old sack.

Michael: It's all here.

T-Bag: I owe you a profound thanks, Pretty. A couple of days from now, I'm gonna be walking down the streets of Bangkok with a million U.S. in my pocket. That's about 40 million baht in the local currency.

C-Note: What the hell is up with you and Thailand, huh?

T-Bag: Black-market surgery, anonymous transplant donors, he's dressed like she's, what's there not to like?

C-Note: Are you really gonna try to replace that hand?

T-Bag: Body ain't taking to this one.

(They lift the huge crate out but it falls apart, bags of money falling with it.)

C-Note: Unbelievable.

Michael: All right, let's move.

C-Note: You know, that hand ain't gonna be white.

T-Bag: What?

C-Note: The new one. Even if you get down there, it ain't gonna be white. Hey, Johnny KKK over here's gonna have an Asian hand.

(He and Michael laugh, in good spirits. T-Bag shoves C-Note lightly, but then a car door slams outside and they all freeze.)

[29. EXT. Street. Day.]

(Tweener slowly moves towards the front door. He glances back at the agents' vehicles parked on the street.)

CUT TO: Mahone, in his car.

Mahone (through the radio): No mistakes. Let's get them clean.

CUT TO: Tweener walking up the front path, looking anxious and guilty.

*FLASHBACK*

[Michael and Tweener at Fox River.]

Michael: I need to know if I can trust you.

*END FLASHBACK*

(Tweener runs a hand over his face.)

*FLASHBACKS*

[Tweener with Bellick in the yard.]

Tweener: They're escaping!

[Tweener with Michael, after the escape.]

Tweener (v/o): No, man, you can't leave me out here. Not like this.

Michael (v/o): We had a deal, remember?

[Images of Avocado, and Tweener crying in his cell.]

Michael: Now walk.

*END FLASHBACKS*

(Tweener wipes his hands on his trousers and approaches the door. He glances round.)

(Mahone sits in his car, ready with the radio.)

(Tweener reaches out slowly and presses the doorbell.)

ACT 4.

[30. EXT. Street. Day.]

(Tweener pushes the doorbell again. Someone peeks out through the blinds in the house. Tweener waits, anxious and worried. Then the door opens - it's Debra Jean.)

Debra Jean: Scott.

Tweener: I don't got much time, a’ight? I had to tell you somethin'.

CUT TO: Mahone. He hears Tweener through the wire, over the radio. He furiously jumps out of the car.

Tweener: What you did for me that day at the motel...ain't nobody in my life that's been to bat for me like that.

(Mahone runs down the street, drawing his gun.)

Mahone: Get him. Go, go, go!

[The air fills with sirens.]

Tweener: And I lied to you, okay? My name ain't Scott, my name's Dave. David Apolskis.

Debra Jean: Oh, my God...

Man 1: Go now, go!

Man 2: Get away from the door!

Man 3: Get down. Now!

Man 4: Put your hands on your head!

Tweener: And I just...

(He puts his hands on his head as agents prepare to drag him away.)

Man 4: Put him in the car!

Tweener: I wanted you to know, all right? 'Cause I'm gonna be writin'...and I sure as hell hope that you write back.

(They cuff him. Tweener smiles at Debra Jean.)

Man 4: All clear!

(The agents drag him to the car, but he keeps smiling at her. Finally she smiles back. Mahone notes the exchange, and looks regretful.)

[31. EXT. Jeanette's House. Day.]

Michael: Can I help you?

Keith: I'm sorry, do I know you?

Michael: Contractor. Got some electrical issues.

Keith: No, you can't help me.

(He goes to approach the front door but Michael grabs his arm.)

Keith: Excuse me, is there a problem?

CUT TO: T-Bag and C-Note, frantically stuffing the money into duffle bags.

Michael: Ms. Owens? She's not home.

CUT TO: Michael and Keith.

Keith: Yeah, well, I'm supposed to drive her to the club for...

Michael: She already went to the club.

CUT TO: Jeanette, bound and gagged, listening. Sucre listens too, anxiously.

CUT TO: Michael: Yeah, she came out, said she was gonna go to the club, she got in her car and left. I don't know what else to tell you.

Keith: Yeah, okay, thanks.

(Michael waves as he drives away.)

[32. INT. Garage. Day.]

(Michael re-enters.)

Michael: He's gone. But we gotta get outta here, because once he gets to the club he's gonna find out she's not there and he's gonna be back.

[33. INT. Mahone's Car. Day.]

Tweener: You know what? You were right. It does feel good to get stuff off your chest. I'm sorry I had to play you like that, bro.

(The car drives down a rural road, then Mahone pulls it over and stops.)

Tweener: Yo, what's up?

Mahone: Come on. It's gonna be a long drive. Stretch your legs.

Tweener: A’ight.

[34. EXT. Road. Day.]

(Lincoln drives down a deserted road in Jeanette's car, towards Arizona, towards LJ.)

[35. EXT. Street. Day.]

(Kellerman is on the phone.)

Kim (v/o): Kellerman. I thought you were gonna deal with the LJ Burrows situation?

Kellerman: Oh, I did.

CUT TO: Kim: Then why is he being released from custody tomorrow?

Kellerman: In and of himself, the kid is useless to us. His only value is in who comes looking for him. More importantly, Bill. Governor Tancredi. Not part of our plan.

Kim: Last time I checked, you left no shortage of bodies in your wake.

Kellerman: No, I did what I had to do to get Caroline where she is. Now that she's there, let's not draw any more attention than we have to.

Kim: You think getting to the top is the hard part? She's a hundred times more visible. Has a hundred times more enemies. Anyone who knows anything has got to be dealt with. If someone is a liability, they go. Tancredi was becoming a liability. So is his daughter.

Kellerman: Wait. What? Sara?

Kim: Goodbye, Paul.

[Shot of Sara's apartment building.]

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois.]

[36. INT. Sara's apartment. Day.]

(Sara enters, clutching her mail. She holds up one envelope to the light - the outline of an origami crane can be seen. She throws the mail down on the side, and it falls to the floor. She turns to the coffee table and stops, shocked.)

(On the table are some lit candles, Morphine bottles and hypodermic needles. A shadow moves behind her.)

[37. INT. Jeanette's Kitchen. Day.]

Ann: You walk out that door with those guys right now, and it's only a matter of time before you get caught. You realize that, don't you? You're not just gonna be dealing with escape charges. But assault, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping...

Sucre: I don't need to hear this right now, lady.

Ann: Oh, no, you do. How much longer do you really think you can stay ahead of the cops?

(Sucre runs the faucet over his head.)

Ann: Look, if you turn yourself in, I will testify at the sentencing. I will say that you co-operated. That can make a huge difference.

Sucre: Shut up.

Ann: Be smart. You have a baby on the way. Do you wanna be around for its 2nd birthday or its 22nd?

Sucre: Shut up!

Ann: If you didn't wanna hear what I had to say, if you didn't wanna hear what a big mistake you were making, you would've put that gag back on...

(Sucre grabs the gun off the side and points it at her, shouting in Spanish.)

Michael (o/s, yelling): Fernando! It's time to go!

Ann: You can still do the right thing, Fernando.

[38. INT. Garage. Day.]

T-Bag: Hey, looky here. Looky here. Pocket change, in case you wanna tip the valet when you're at the Ritz.

(He throws C-Note, then Michael, a bundle of notes.)

C-Note: Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about, boy. Where's Sucre?

Sucre: Right here.

(They turn to him, he's pointing the gun at them.)

Michael: What are you doing?

Sucre: Drop the bag. No-one's going anywhere.

[39. EXT. Field. Day.]

(Tweener waits anxiously, while Mahone paces, looking like he's thinking deeply.)

Tweener: Hey, yo. Just so you know, man, I'm not gonna roll on those guys. It ain't gonna happen, so...if that's what this is about...

(Mahone walks closer, right up to him.)

Mahone: We were talking about confession earlier. And, uh...I think I owe you an apology because I lied to you. About Oscar Shales. Smart ass just kept pushing it. I snapped. Right there.

(He grips Tweener's neck.)

Mahone: That's where I put the bullet in him.

Tweener: I don't care about none of this.

Mahone: Mistake about that is that forensics will tell the whole tale. Powder burns. The gun was right against his head.

Tweener (suddenly scared): Sir...I think we should go back...

Mahone: That's what good about confession. Because you say something, you get it off your chest, and it just goes out there into the whole world, and I'm so sorry about this, kid, because I hope you understand.

(He reaches for his gun.)

Tweener: Yo, yo, hold on...

Mahone: I got nothing against you, kid.

(He walks backwards and raises the gun.)

Tweener: What are you doin', man?

Mahone: But they do.

(Mahone shoots him twice, a third shot shattering the car window. He shoots twice more, until Tweener slumps down, dead. Mahone places another gun in Tweener's dead hands. He leans on the car, beginning to crumble, and reaches for his pills with shaking hands.)
