ACT 1.

Opening Scene.

[Camera pans over a sign in a rock - "Blanding Botanical Gardens" - Day. Michael rolls up his sleeve and presses an image of a flower in his tattoo.]

(A whistling employee walks out of the gate to the supply room. Michael reaches out and stops it closing. He checks the sign in sheets for the name of the night manager, then he picks up a baseball cap and a vest, the uniform for the gardens. A volunteer enters the area.)

Volunteer: Hey.

Michael: Hey.

Volunteer: Are you new?

Michael: Yeah.

Volunteer: No-one told me we were getting a new volunteer.

Michael: I've been working, uh...the night shifts. Clean up. And Jimmy said I could change my shift, so...

Volunteer: You know what you're doing?

Michael: Yeah. I'll see you around.

Volunteer: Right.

(Michael walks out of the gate, picking up a leaflet. He looks for "Apache Desert Ghost". Then he moves through the garden, finding a white flower within a cactus.)

*Flashback image of Michael looking at the flower on his tattoo*

(He stops, looking at the plant. Then he looks at another volunteer, who is very slowly potting plants. Michael looks suspicious. He looks across at a man taking photographs of some plants, very slowly. There are several pots. The guy with the camera drops a cigarette butt - it joins several already on the ground. These guys have clearly been in these positions some time. Michael now knows he's being set up.)

(Michael begins to walk away, but the guys have clocked him and come after him.)

Agent 1 (into a radio in his sleeve): This might be Scofield.

Man (over radio): Copy that.

(Michael walks through the gardens. The agents follow, drawing their guns now. Michael slips in front of a row of children holding hands, which slows the agents down. When the children are gone, Michael has disappeared and the path forks in two.)

Agent 1: You take that side!

(The agents split up, running now, and the chase is on. Camera cuts between the agents and Michael, all running through the gardens. Agent 1 notices a volunteer lying down in the trees.)

Agent 1: Freeze!

Volunteer: Take it easy, man!

Agent 1: Stay on the ground.

Volunteer: What's the deal?

(The agent goes over to the fence bordering the gardens. Michael's vest and cap are hanging on it. Agent 2 runs up behind him.)

Agent 2: He's gone!

[1. EXT. Highway. Day.]

(Lincoln and LJ are tearing down the highway.)

Lincoln: How you feeling?

LJ: Okay, I guess. Tired.

Lincoln: I'm a target, kid. As long as you're with me, so are you. Things will get a whole lot worse before they get better. Understand?

LJ: But after we meet up with Uncle Mike and get to Panama...

Lincoln: Panama ain't a sure thing. Your uncle's plan is dangerous. I mean, really dangerous. Listen, all the charges against you have been dropped. You're free and clear to start a new life. A good life. Not be constantly running, looking over your shoulder...

LJ: You want me to leave?

Lincoln: No. No.

LJ: Good. Because I'm not.

[2. INT. Diner. Day.]

(Michael sits in the back corner of a diner. A waitress brings over a glass of water.)

Waitress: Here you go.

Customer: Turn the sound up on the tube, Jenny.

Waitress: Sure, Hank.

Reporter (on TV): Do you have any thoughts on the death of David Apolskis?

(Michael looks up in shock.)

Mahone (on TV): It was unfortunate.

Michael: Oh, David...

Reporter 1 (on TV): Tests show he was shot at close range. Was there ever any opportunity...

Mahone: Let me remind you that despite his age, David "Tweener" Apolskis was a fugitive wh...who made a move for my weapon. I did not want to have to kill him. Sometimes things happen that are just out of your control.

Customer: That good old boy's hunting them all down, ain't he?

Reporter 2 (on TV): Sources claim that you have recovered Scofield's hard drive, and have obtained substantial data from it.

(Michael stands up, unable to believe his ears.)

Mahone (on TV): What sources?

Reporter 2 (on TV): Where allegedly you retrieved information detailing not only how Scofield broke out, but how he plans to stay out. Care to comment?

Mahone (on TV): No.

Reporter 2 (on TV): The event at Blanding Botanical Gardens earlier today, that was a result of hard drive data you collected.

Mahone (on TV): No comment.

Reporter 2 (on TV): Have you found other locations where Scofield might be headed?

Mahone (on TV): I believe I said no comment.

*FLASHBACK*

Michael (v/o): There's something about this guy.

(Mahone walks across to the gravestone "R.I.P. E. Chance Woods".)

Michael (v/o): It's like he knows where we're going, what we're thinking.

(Mahone stares up at Michael and Lincoln through the hatch in the elevator.)

*END FLASHBACK*

(Michael stares at the TV.)

Reporter 1 (on TV): Mr. Mahone, tell us where you're headed next.

Reporter 2 (on TV): What role will the hard drive play?

[3. INT. FBI Field Office. Day.]

(The television press statement is being replayed.)

Mahone (on TV): Details of this investigation are extremely confidential.

Agent Lang: Heard it came back from the lab. Any findings?

Agent Wheeler: Yeah, 3200 nitroglycerine ampoules. Scofield knew this needed to be stored in a cool, moist area. Best place for that in the Utah desert is the botanical gardens. (He hands Lang a small test tube.)

Lang: Stable?

Wheeler: All medical grade. Safely used by heart patients all the time. But in the aggregate...

Mahone (entering): It can take out an entire building. That box right there. This is why we can't have leaks coming from this office. (He kicks at a cabinet angrily.) God help the agent who goes behind my back and talks to the press.

(He storms into his office and slams the door.)

Reporter 1 (on TV): Can you elaborate on your tactics in this manhunt?

Mahone (on TV): Sun Tzu said that if you know your enemy, you need not fear 100 battles. I know these men, who they are, where they came from, where they want to go.

[Title Card: Moab, Utah. - Day.]

[4. INT. Copy Store. Day.]

(Michael sits at an open computer desk. He searches for "Alexander Mahone".)

Mahone (v/o): These convicts are in a constant battle. Not only with me, but with themselves. Second guessing every decision they make.

(Michael looks at several articles featuring Mahone and Oscar Shales. He reads the headlines 'Shales Eludes FBI', and 'Shales Added To FBI's Most Wanted List'. He prints them all out.)

Mahone (v/o): Do I turn left? Do I turn right? Stay, or go? My job is to know how they'll answer these questions.

(Michael finds Mahone's address and three previous addresses on PeopleTrak. He scrolls down to Spouse address - Pam Mahone. The status is Divorced.)

Mahone (v/o): The only way to win a war is to try to know your prey completely. And then you get to go after your enemy with everything you've got.

OPENING CREDITS.

[American Thrift Store - Day.]

[5. INT. Thrift Store. Day.]

Woman: Our half-price stuff's in the back.

Michael: I'm looking for something very specific.

Woman: Okay.

(Michael suddenly spots something hanging up.)

Michael: This is it. This is exactly what I need.

Woman: Great.

[6. INT. FBI Field Office. Day.]

Mahone: We were just inches away today, inches. (He hands Wheeler the print outs showing the possible combinations for the numbers on Sara's crane.) I want these blown up huge. Put them in my office, on the walls.

Wheeler: What are these?

Mahone: Somewhere in there is information regarding a rendezvous that Scofield set up. And we're gonna crack that code today. Lang! Today's the day Franklin told his wife he's gonna meet her at the Rainbow Room.

Lang: Right.

Mahone: Wrong. Today's the day Franklin's going down. Are you ready?

Lang: Everything's arranged.

(Camera zooms in on C-Note's mugshot on the board.)

[Title Card: Chicago, Illinois.]

[7. INT. Parking Garage. Day.]

(C-Note watches his old gang in an abandoned parking garage. One of them hands a wad of money to another.)

Trey: It's all here?

Man: Yo, Ray, let's go.

C-Note: Hey, yo, Trey. What's up, nigga?

Trey (shocked): I know that ain't you!

C-Note: It ain't a ghost, man.

Trey: You holdin' up all right?

C-Note: Just catching a whole bunch of buses just to get here to Chi-Town, man. How you think I'm supposed to feel? (He looks around at the others.) Chris, Jay. What's up, Flam? You look like you lost a few, bro.

Flam: Slim-Fast, baby.

C-Note: Is that what it is, huh?

Chris: Feds been in your old lady's business, no joke. Up in your crib. Followin' her around sometimes.

C-Note: Yeah, I know, man. I know.

Trey: Yo, I know you love Kacee. But I don't know if it's a good idea for you to be coming round here. You're a wanted man.

C-Note: I'm wanted because I kept my mouth shut. And I kept you out of Fox River.

Jay: C-Man, we feel that. And we owe you one.

C-Note: Good. Because I'm collecting right now. My wife is waiting for me today and I am not leaving Chi-Town without my family, you understand? Now, all y'all are gonna help me. Let's roll out.

[8. EXT. C-Note's House. Day.]

(Kacee Franklin straps Dede into the car. As she stands up, she comes face to face with Agent Lang.)

Lang: Where are you going?

Kacee: To take my kid to school.

Lang: I know about the Rainbow Room.

Kacee: I don't know what you're talking about.

Lang: Phone lines are tapped. We heard your entire telephone conversation with your husband. Since you and Dede aren't booked onto any flights to New York, don't tell me the Rainbow Room is a restaurant in Manhattan. Now you can tell me where you're meeting your husband, or I can arrest you. Right in front of your daughter.

Kacee: You go to hell. I haven't done anything wrong.

Lang: You spoke with an escaped felon about meeting him today. You've already done enough to be charged with Attempt to Aid and Abet.

Kacee: Please, okay, listen to me...

Lang: One phone call, and Child Welfare is here. You're going to County, Dede will be in foster care.

Kacee: No.

Lang: Don't worry. I hear the families in the foster system are topnotch.

Kacee: You are asking me to choose between my daughter and my husband.

Lang: Exactly.

[9. EXT. Phone Booth. Day.]

(Bellick is on the phone. Geary walks over with two coffees.)

Geary: Anything?

Bellick: I'm on the phone with Fox River, checking T-Bag's file. (Into phone.) Hey, what you got for me? Really, fifty-two times? Where? I owe you, Patterson. (He hangs up.) We got a lot of road to cover.

[10. EXT. Busy Bee Cafe. Day.]

[Title Card: St. David, Arizona.]

(LJ walks out of the cafe and over to the car.)

LJ: We're good.

(He watches a few giggling teenage girls walk by. Lincoln grins.)

Lincoln: No more stops until we get to New Mexico.

(There's a knock on the window. It's the waitress.)

Waitress: You forgot your change.

LJ: Yeah. Thanks.

Waitress: You were in such a rush.

LJ: Thanks. Thank you.

(He winds the window up again. The waitress walks away but she looks troubled.)

Lincoln: Keep walking. Keep walking. Come on, keep walking.

(The waitress looks back, she's recognized them.)

Lincoln: Damn in. (He punches the engine, and races out of the parking lot.)

[11. EXT. Highway. Day.]

LJ: We don't have to ditch the car. We can keep driving.

Lincoln: We can't, the waitress made me and the car. It's useless.

LJ: I'm sorry, you know. Maybe we can find another car.

Lincoln: Cars aren't exactly growing on trees out here. We got 400 miles to go and no way of getting there. If we don't get to Michael in time, he's gonna leave without us.

LJ: Uncle Michael wouldn't do that.

Lincoln: He doesn't have a choice. It's a one-shot deal out of the country.

LJ: I said I was sorry. There was a sign back there for a train station.

Lincoln: It ain't that easy.

LJ: We follow the road, we won't be seen.

Lincoln: It ain't that easy.

LJ: Hey, I'm not an idiot! I was on the run too, you know.

Lincoln: Yeah, you were on the run, and you got caught.

LJ: Yeah, well, I'm sorry I'm not a pro at being a con like you, Dad. Maybe I should've just left when you gave me the out. Huh? Not like you care.

(He goes to get out of the car.)

Lincoln: Whoa, whoa. Take it easy. I'm sorry, all right? I'm sorry, man, I'm just... (He sighs.) Let's get out of here.

[Title Card: Durango, Colorado.]

[12. EXT. Pam Mahone's House. Day.]

(Michael rings the doorbell, and Pam answers. He dressed in a suit, wearing glasses and is carrying a portfolio.)

Michael: Mrs, uh, Mrs. Pamela Mahone?

Pam: Yes.

Michael: Agent Wayne Merrick, FBI. (He holds up some ID with his picture in.) I'd like to talk to you about your husband.

ACT 2.

[13. INT. Pam's House. Day.]

Pam: I'm surprised that you're coming to me for a background check on Alex.

Michael: It's standard procedure. We run these kind of checks when an agent's about to be promoted to, uh, to a higher security clearance.

Pam: I know that. I did this dance the last time that he was promoted. I just figured that since we were divorced...I mean, I rarely speak to him and I certainly don't follow his career.

Michael: We really need to get this done today. So I promise I won't take up much of your time.

Pam: I've given enough time to my ex-husband, Mr. Merrick.

Michael: I see. The, uh...the Bureau can take its toll on your family. I understand that. My ex-wife is...an agent, and...let's just say I know how you feel.

Pam (more sympathetic): Promise me that he won't find out we spoke?

Michael: Oh, it's totally confidential. Do you mind if I ask why?

Pam: To be perfectly honest, he scares me.

[Motel Rooms - EXT - Day.]

[Title Card: Elgin, Illinois.]

[14. INT. Motel Room. Day.]

(Sara sits on the bed eating a fast food meal, furiously trying to work out Michael's code. She looks at the book where she's written "Rendezvous" and "Sundown/Hot" - the book is against the fast food wrapper, which is displaying "el". Sara stares down at the words: Sundown Hotel.)

Man (v/o): Information.

Sara: (on phone): Hi, I need the number for a Sundown Hotel, please.

Man (v/o): What state?

Sara (on phone): Uh, all of them, please?

(She makes notes on the map on the back of the Yellow Pages.)

Man (v/o): Got one in Pierre, South Dakota. Another in Sutton, West Virginia. And one in Gila, New Mexico.

(Sara circles the word "Gila", then takes off the map page.)

[Bus Station - EXT - Day.]

[Title Card: Tribune, Kansas.]

(T-Bag opens locker 804 and puts the backpack full of money into it. He stashes the locker key in his sock and goes to leave, but stops at the flower stand.)

Cashier: What can I do you for?

T-Bag: A batch of them sunflowers, please.

Cashier: If you don't mind me saying, you do not sound like you hail from Kansas.

(She puts a pair of scissors down as she turns to get the flowers, and T-Bag swipes them.)

T-Bag: You got a sharp ear. I hail from what we call the Yellowhammer State.

Cashier: What brings you to Tribune?

(T-Bag looks down at the money and note in his hand - it has on it Susan's address.)

*FLASHBACK*

Image of Susan's house

Image of Susan kissing T-Bag, before Fox River.

*END FLASHBACK*

Cashier: Sir?

T-Bag: Romance. Thank you so much.

(He leaves with the flowers. The camera zooms in on the flower wrap - the scissors are gone.)

[15. INT. Warehouse. Day.]

(The guys stand around a table full of weapons.)

C-Note: Somebody's gonna get hurt.

Jay: Feds gonna be swingin' bigger bats than these. We gotta have ours.

C-Note: Look, man, that's all we need is your car, (to Flam) your truck and some guts, man. We don't need all of this.

Flam: Maybe we should think about it.

C-Note: I said no! What's gonna happen, man, when the bullets start flying, huh? Can you guarantee me that my family ain't gonna get hurt?

Jay: Johnny Law's gonna be strapped up. I'm going in hot.

C-Note: I don't think you heard me.

Jay: No, I don't think you heard me, bro. I'm not going in naked! I know we said we'd ride with you on this, but I'm not going in there without some of these.

(C-Note puts all the weapons in a bag and shoves it at Jay.)

C-Note: You wanna punk out, man? Then punk out. 'Cause I can do this myself.

Trey: Ain't nobody punkin' out. And no guns! (to C-Note.) But you'd better be right about this. If bullets do start flyin', the only blood being spilt is gonna be ours. You feel me?

C-Note: I feel you.

[16. EXT. Chicago Street. Day.]

(Agent Kellerman is approached by another agent.)

Agent: Agent Kellerman! Agent Kellerman!

Kellerman: Yes?

Agent: The name you wanted me to track. Kelli Foster. She booked a flight to New Mexico. Just landed.

Kellerman: Got someone on her?

Agent: No, but we got an ID on her rental car. Should I update Mr. Kim?

Kellerman: No, I'll take care of this myself.

[17. INT. FBI Field Office. Day.]

Agent Wheeler: We got a tip from a waitress who thinks she saw Burrows and his son outside St. David, Arizona.

Mahone: Get a road team there to confirm. Once they get a beat on Burrows, notify me immediately. Everybody out, let's go, come on.

(His cell phone rings. He goes into his office and closes the door.)

Mahone (on phone): Yeah?

CUT TO: Kellerman (on phone): Sara Tancredi just booked a one-way ticket across the country.

Mahone: To where?

Kellerman: New Mexico.

Mahone (checking his map): Of course...

Kellerman: Any luck breaking that code?

Mahone: Not yet. But this helps.

Kellerman: Good.

(They both hang up. Mahone goes over to the word combinations for Michael's code. He begins circling some.)

Mahone: Wheeler!

Wheeler: Sir?

Mahone: Every combination that has NM in it. I want you to check it to see if it contains the name of a location in New Mexico. I want it done now.

Wheeler: Now?

Mahone: Yeah, right now.

[18. INT. Pam's House. Day.]

Pam: So, how well do you know Alex?

Michael: He knows me better than I know him.

Pam: He's a closed book, all right. But he wasn't always like that. In the first few years of our marriage, he was actually romantic.

Michael: Hm.

Pam: And then one day, out of nowhere...

Michael: Out of nowhere, what?

Pam: Everything changed. He became obsessed with getting out.

Michael: Out of the marriage?

Pam: Out of the marriage, getting me out of the house, out of his life. He left me. He left the both of us. (She looks across at a photograph on the side, of herself and a little boy aged around 5.)

Michael: You said you were scared of him. Why is that?

Pam: He started acting strange. Started spending all of his time in the backyard gardening, of all things. I mean, the man was a neat freak. He'd throw away a pair of shoes if they even got scuffed. But he'd be out there, all covered in dirt, and surrounded by all these huge bags of fertilizer and lye. We just put this new sod in, and he just tore it all up and planted a flower bed. And I went out back once to talk to him, and he screamed at me and said not to come near the garden. Said that it was 'his'.

(She puts a hand over her face, on the verge of tears. Michael puts a hand on her arm.)

Michael: I'm sorry. If you...if you wanna take a break...

Pam: All I wanted was an explanation. Why things ended so suddenly. And all Alex could say was, "Sometimes things happen that are just out of your control."

(She walks off into another room to compose herself. Michael looks across at the sideboard - Pam's cell phone is there. He picks it up, and scrolls down the contacts until he finds Alex Mahone.)

[19. EXT. Fairground. Day.]

(Kacee sits in the back of an FBI van going over the plan.)

Lang: So the picture in your daughter's bedroom. The exact location where it was taken was a merry-go-round, right?

Kacee: Yeah.

Lang: So, all you have to do is wait by the merry-go-round. Right where Benjamin's expecting you.

(Another agent is loading a gun.)

Kacee: Is that necessary? I mean, Benjamin's not even...

Lang: It's precautionary.

Kacee: Look, I do this, you leave me and my child alone.

Lang: You have my word.

(Kacee gets out of the van and walks over to the merry-go-round. Flam is there, on the phone.)

CUT TO: C-Note (on phone): Is she there?

Flam (on phone): Yeah, she's here.

C-Note: Well, let's go get her.

CUT TO: C-Note and Chris, who are sitting in an SUV. Chris gets out of the car.

CUT TO: Fairground. In the FBI van, Agent Lang checks on Kacee with binoculars.

Agent (over radio): Number three, confirm you're in position, number one.

(Kacee stands by a fence, waiting. Chris walks up, leans on the fence next to her.)

Chris: In 15 seconds, a black Jeep is going to pull up by the parking lot entrance. Run to it.

Kacee: Chris?!

(The Jeep pulls up by the entrance.)

Chris: Go!

Kacee: I can't, they're gonna take Dede.

Chris: No, they won't.

CUT TO: Agent Lang: Is that guy talking to her? Get a read on him!

Agent (over radio): Move to positions.

CUT TO: Chris: It's taken care of. Go!

(Kacee glances at the FBI van, then over at the Jeep where Jay is waiting at the wheel.)

Chris: GO!

CUT TO: Agent Lang: She's running! She's running! Go, go, go! Move, move!

(Kacee runs fast towards the black Jeep.)

ACT 3.

[20. EXT. Street. Day.]

(Kacee races out of the fairground and gets into Jay's car.)

Jay: Get in! Hold on!

(The Jeep speeds off, quickly followed by an unmarked squad car. The squad car closes in on the Jeep.)

Agent Lang (to radio): It's a 2007 black Jeep. License plates have been removed. We're in pursuit, headed -- No!

(A delivery truck screeches to a halt in front of the FBI vehicles, blocking their way. Agent Lang gets out, her gun drawn. Flam gets out of the delivery truck.)

Agent Lang: Move the truck!

(Flam speaks in Spanish, pretending not to know any English.)

Agent Lang: Move the truck! I said, move it!

[21. INT. Jay's Car. Day.]

Kacee: Where is my child?!

Jay: Here. (He hands her a cell phone.)

Kacee (on phone): Dede?

CUT TO: C-Note: Hey, it's me, baby. Hey, look, I just wanna tell you that everything is gonna be okay. We're gonna be a family again. I promise you that.

Kacee: Where is Dede?! He said that you had her!

C-Note: No, no, no, be easy, baby. Be easy. Trey is picking her up from school right now.

[22. EXT. Roadside. Day.]

Agent Lang: Dede Franklin, Dawson Elementary. I want her pulled from school. Now!

[23. INT. Dawson Elementary. Day.]

(Trey waits in the hall, on his cell phone.)

C-Note (v/o): What the hell is going on, man?

Trey (on phone): They say she's taking a test, man. But I think they're stalling.

CUT TO: C-Note, he looks worried.

[24. INT. Pam's House. Day.]

Michael: What about, um, what about Oscar Shales?

Pam: Oscar Shales? Why is he important?

*FLASHBACK IMAGES: Newspaper headlines, 'Shales Remains At Large', 'Shales Eludes FBI'.*

Michael: Well, he's just the only fugitive to ever successfully elude your ex-husband.

Pam: Alex was consumed with finding him. I mean, after what Shales did to all of his victims, who could blame him? It was all he worked on, all he did for a year. But I don't think that it was the stress of chasing Shales that caused Alex to start behaving erratically.

Michael: Why is that?

Pam: Because Alex changed after the trail went cold. I remember it like it was yesterday. He just walked into the kitchen after 12 years of marriage, and says that he wanted me out of the house immediately. I'll never forget the date. It was June 15th.

*FLASHBACK IMAGES: Newspaper article: 'Shales Missing Since Mid-June'.*

Michael: I think I have everything I need.

Pam: You didn't even ask about social history or education. That's standard in these checks.

Michael: That's been handled. I have to get these reports filed with Strategic Operations, ASAP.

Pam: You're with Strategic Operations?

Michael: They handle these checks.

Pam: Not since the 9/11 realignment, Mr. Merrick. The chief information officer does them now. They handled Alex's last check.

Michael: When an agent reaches a level as high as your ex-husband's, S.O. takes over. Again. Beaurocracies. Thank you for the coffee.

[25. EXT. Dawson Elementary. Day.]

C-Note (on phone): Look, just get her out of there.

(A car pulls up outside the school and two agents get out.)

C-Note: They're here. (He hangs up and gets out of the car, running into the school.) No, no, no, no, no...

[26. INT. Dawson Elementary. Day.]

Trey: No, see, we gotta go...

C-Note: Don't worry about it. Just get the car started, all right? Go!

(C-Note takes off down the corridor to Dede's classroom and enters it.)

Dede: Daddy!

C-Note: Hey, baby! You ready to go?

Dede: Where are we going?

C-Note: Disneyland.

Teacher: Mr. Franklin, you can't...

(The two FBI agents have entered the classroom by another door.)

Agent 1: FBI! Stop!

Agent 2: Get him, get him!

[27. EXT. Dawson Elementary. Day.]

(C-Note runs out of the school, carrying Dede. The agents are right behind him.)

C-Note (to Trey): Come on, let's go! (He puts Dede into the back seat.) Let's go, baby. Let's go, baby. Come on, go, go, go! (He jumps in beside her and Trey speeds off.)

Agent 1 (on radio): Franklin has the child! Repeat, Franklin has the child!

[28. EXT. Suburban Street. Day.]

(T-Bag walks towards a large house with the sunflowers in his hand.)

*FLASHBACKS*

T-Bag (v/o): Evening, Mrs. Hollander. Don't you look lovely this evening?

[Susan checks her hair before opening the door to T-Bag.]

[Susan sits opposite T-Bag at the visitation room in Fox River.]

Susan: You should've told me what you were. My God, I let you near my children!

T-Bag: Don't think I won't remember what your front steps look like.

[Susan spits on the glass in disgust.]

*END FLASHBACKS*

(T-Bag walks up the steps, then notices a 'For Sale' sign. His face drops.)

[29. INT. Susan's House. Day.]

(T-Bag walks into Susan Hollander's empty house. He picks up the mail that has built up by the door and walks into the living area. He throws the mail onto the floor, straightens a chair and slumps into it, defeated and disappointed.)

[30. EXT. Field. Day.]

(Lincoln and LJ are walking, having dumped the car.)

Lincoln: Come on now, get away from the road. You wanna get caught? I, uh...I saw you checking out those girls back at the diner.

LJ (innocently): What?

Lincoln: Come on, fess up.

LJ: No, I was just making sure that they weren't staring at us.

Lincoln: With what, their asses? Beautiful girls in Panama. They love Americans.

LJ: Cool.

Lincoln: So, uh...how long you known about girls?

LJ: Long enough.

Lincoln: Since when.

LJ: Thirteen.

Lincoln: Thirteen? With who?

LJ: Donna Enselmi.

Lincoln: She was the kid next door. She was about...

LJ: Four years older than me?

Lincoln: Your mom was paying her for French lessons.

LJ: Well, she earned the money.

(They both laugh.)

Lincoln: Come on, away from the road. You're still way too close. Let's go.

[31. INT. Susan's House. Day.]

(T-Bag sits in the chair, reminiscing about his time with the Hollander family.)

*FLASHBACKS*

T-Bag: You wanna learn some tricks, Gracey?

Gracey: Like what?

[He shows her how to do her nine times table on her fingers.]

[Susan kisses him gently.]

Susan (v/o): I let you into my life.

Gracey: Eighteen....Twenty-seven!

[Susan opens the door to him.]

T-Bag: Evening, Mrs Hollander.

[T-Bag puts his fingers on the glass screen in the visitation room at Fox River.]

*END FLASHBACKS*

(T-Bag walks slowly into the kitchen and destroys the sunflowers. He turns around and walks back into the living room, where somebody knocks him out cold with the 'For Sale' sign. It's Bellick.)

Bellick: How you feelin', little Teddy?

[32. INT. Mahone's Office. Day.]

(Mahone works on Michael's code.)

Mahone: NM, six...NM, three... (He scribbles on his paper.) ...NM... (He screws the paper up and groans. Then he has a thought and stares down at the possible options.) NM, 63... (He draws lines through the code so it's separated into EL, GILA, and NM63. He rings 'Gila' in New Mexico on the map. He flips over his diary to 6/3.) Tomorrow.

(His cell phone rings. The display reads 'Pam'.)

Mahone (on phone): Pam, I really can't talk right now.

Michael (v/o): Maybe I should call back.

Mahone: Who is this?

Michael: I think you already know.

ACT 4.

[33. INT. Mahone's Office. Day.]

(Mahone and Michael continue their phone conversation.)

Mahone: If you've done anything to Pam, or my boy...

Michael: We both know your family's fine. Although Pam did seem a little upset about you leaving. But then you had to, didn't you? Because you couldn't let her find out.

Mahone: Find out about what?

Michael: Oscar Shales, you remember? The one that got away. Except he didn't get too far, did he?

Mahone: Ah, you're slipping, Scofield.

Michael: Maybe. Let's hypothesize for a moment. Let's pretend I was the one who caught Shales. I don't think I could have just handed that psychopath over to the courts. Not after he had eluded me for so long. Made me look bad.

Mahone: You've been out in the sun way too long, boy.

Michael: You feds make a nice living. But not so nice you go around tearing up expensive sod. Not unless you had to do a little digging. Not unless you wanted to hide something. Or someone.

*Flashback Image* [Mahone walks across his backyard to the birdbath.]

Michael: That's what all the lye was for, wasn't it? See, because there are two kinds of lye. Small amounts of the first kind can be a gardener's best friend.

*Flashback Image* [Mahone looks into the birdbath.]

Michael: And large bags of the other kind decomposes bodies.

Mahone: Oh, you should write mystery novels.

Michael: I don't know about you, but if I buried someone in my own back yard, I'd think about it all the time. I'd think...I'd think maybe I should move that body. Then I'd remember that DNA leaches into soil, so even when the body was gone the proof of what I'd done would still be there. I can imagine how it feels...the pressure. The constant fear. It's more than a man can bear. I'm gonna give you a chance. Back off, let me and my family disappear. And in return, I'll keep your little secret. How does that sound?

Mahone: Like a dead man talking.

Michael: I know it's not how you wanted this to play out. But sometimes things happen that are just...out of your control. This is one of those times. Take care of yourself.

Mahone: I'll see you soon, Michael.

*Flashback Image* [Mahone circles 'Gila' on the map.]

Mahone: Oh, and Michael, it just may be sooner than you think.

[34. INT. Susan's House. Day.]

(T-Bag regains consciousness, tied to a chair. Bellick sits opposite him, on another chair.)

Geary: Did you have a nice nap? Visions of 12-year-olds dancing in your head?

T-Bag: You're trespassing.

Bellick: Nobody lives here anymore, Goldilocks. Seems the owner hit the bricks as soon as she heard a certain someone had re-entered society. Left in a hurry, too. Even left some stuff behind. So this is where Theodore practiced 'Pervert Knows Best'.

(Geary chuckles.)

Bellick: This is where he had his family supper (he gestures to the kitchen.) And that, I believe... (he points to the bedroom.) ...is where you and Mrs. Hollander expressed your love. Tell me, little Teddy: did you make her wear Dr. Dentons and hold a lunchbox to help you get all worked up?

T-Bag: Bradley, I couldn't possibly expect a grown man who still lives with his mama to understand the machinations of love.

Bellick: You want to know how we found you? Fifty-two mash notes, sent by you to this address. All of them begging Mrs. Hollander to take your white-trash ass back. And every one of them boomeranged to Fox River, marked 'Return to Sender'. Oh, the guards had a real laugh reading them, didn't we, Geary?

Geary: Oh, damn right we did.

Bellick: That is one mangy looking paw you got there, slick. What happened, Boy Scout fight back? Geary.

(Geary hands Bellick the scissors T-Bag stole earlier.)

Bellick: Now you're gonna tell me where you stashed Westmoreland's money. Or I'm gonna pluck you like a chicken. Stitch by stitch.

(T-Bag braces himself for immense pain, looking down at the locker key in his sock.)

T-Bag: Fine, you wanna know where the money is? I did spend a bunch of it last night on your mama.

Bellick: Wrong answer.

(Geary rips out the first stitch and T-Bag screams in pain.)

[35. EXT. Parking Lot. Day.]

(Kacee and Jay wait for C-Note and Dede to arrive. Finally the SUV pulls up and stops. Dede gets out and goes running to Kacee.)

Kacee: Come on, baby. How are you? Hm? You're good?

Dede: Yeah.

C-Note: She's okay.

(Kacee turns to C-Note, hugging him and kissing him.)

Kacee: Baby?

C-Note: Yeah?

Kacee: What do we do now?

(C-Note hugs her again, pulling Dede into the hug, but over Kacee's shoulder he looks uncertain.)

[36. EXT. Train Station. Day.]

(Lincoln and LJ walk to the platform, but the ticket line is long and there is a guard on the station.)

LJ: What are we gonna do?

Lincoln: Get a ticket on the train. Come on. Just wait here until the train comes.

(A man on a bench reading the paper stares at them, then gets up and walks away. Lincoln watches him.)

[37. EXT. Mahone's Back Yard. Day.]

(Mahone digs furiously in his yard. His shovel scrapes across something hard, and he bends down to see the bones of a hand.)

[38. EXT. Secluded Road. Day.]

(Michael drives a long, secluded road, passing a sign that reads: 'Gila, 73 miles'.)

[39. EXT. Train Station. Day.]

(The man who was reading the paper returns, escorted by a police officer.)

Man: Yeah, I think that's the guy right over there.

(LJ and Lincoln do their best to slowly walk away but he's onto them. They run across the platform.)

Officer (on radio): Two Caucasian males on foot, fleeing the Willcox station.

(Lincoln slows for LJ to catch up.)

LJ: I'm running.

(He overtakes, sprinting fast over a bridge. Sirens wail, and a car screeches up the street, hitting LJ as he tries to run across the road.)

Lincoln: LJ! LJ! (He runs to him and rolls him over.)

Officer: Hold it right there! Stop!

Officer 2: Don't move!

Lincoln: Please, please, he's got nothing to do with this!

Officer: Face down!

Lincoln: Please...

Officer: Now!

Officer 2: Cuff them.

(Both father and son are handcuffed. LJ coughs, dazed.)

Lincoln: LJ, I'm sorry.

Officer 3 (on radio): Suspect in custody. Possible ID, Lincoln Burrows.

(LJ wheezes, barely conscious.)

Lincoln: I'm sorry, LJ. I'm sorry.
