ACT 1.

[EXT. Shack. Day.]

(Michael stares at his father.)

Michael: It was you.

Aldo: Go easy, son.

Michael: Stay away from me! (He backs away as Aldo advances on him.)

Lincoln: What the hell's going on?

Michael: I know him.

Lincoln: What do you mean you know him? That's impossible!

Michael: I know him! I know this man.

*FLASHBACK*

[Young Michael aged 10 is roughly shoved into a dark closet by his foster father.]

*END FLASHBACK*

Aldo: Michael.

Sucre (to Aldo): Maybe that's far enough.

Aldo: This doesn't concern you.

Lincoln: What the hell's going on, Dad?

(Michael is breaking up, almost crying.)

Michael: After Mom died...(to Lincoln.) You were in Juvie. They put me with this...this foster father down on Pershing Avenue. He punished me. Locked me up.

*FLASHBACK*

[Young Michael looks around in the dark closet.]

Michael (v/o): If you leave someone alone in the dark for that long, their eyes start to adjust. You start to see things, no matter how small.

[Young Michael uses a nail and a small latch from the boiler to try and pick the lock on the door.]

Michael (v/o): Because if they exist, they can help you. Help you do the only thing you wanna do...when you're alone in the dark. Get out.

[Before Young Michael can open the door, the light flashes on outside and the door opens. The foster father yanks him up and beats him down.]

*END FLASHBACK*

[INT. Motel. Day.]

(Sara is still struggling in the water in the bathtub.)

CUT TO: Kellerman, in the living room area. The TV is on loud, tuned to a fishing program, to drown out the sounds of Sara in the tub.

Man on TV: I've used just about every lure that you can use. Most of them, you need to be an expert to use. This Motolure's a little different. Everybody, I mean everybody, can fish with it.

(Kellerman rolls out a plastic sheet. There's a knock at the door.)

Man on TV: Catch bigger fish, you're gonna catch more fish. It even works in weedy areas where most top water lures won't work. Take a look at this baby. This thing looks like a real minnow.

(Kellerman takes a saw out from his bag. There's another knock at the door. He bends over, trying to see underneath the door.)

Man on TV: It's one very cool bait. I have never seen anything quite like this. Even if you've bought lures off TV in the past and been disappointed, and believe me, I know how you feel...

(Kellerman starts to put on some large rubber gloves, when he notices the door start to open. He rushes over to it.)

Motel Manager: Oh, sorry, man, I thought you'd left.

Kellerman: Hey. No. Still here. Here I am.

Manager: Yeah, it's just that a couple of guests are complaining about the volume of your TV.

CUT TO: Sara, struggling in the bath tub. She strains to reach the plug chain.

CUT TO: Kellerman: Oh...sorry, I fell asleep. I must have...hit the remote. I'll take care of it. Thanks. Sorry. Thanks.

Manager: That's great. So, could you do that for me now, please? So it's taken care of.

Kellerman: Yeah.

Manager: Thanks.

(Kellerman grabs the remote off the table and turns the volume down.)

CUT TO: Sara, she's almost reached the chain.

CUT TO: Kellerman: Taken care of.

(Now the TV is quiet, splashing sounds can be heard.)

Manager: Is, uh...everything okay in your bathroom?

Kellerman: Excuse me?

CUT TO: Sara. She uses her teeth to pull the chain and the plug comes out.

Manager (o/s): In your bathroom. There's a noise coming from it.

Kellerman (o/s): Yeah, my daughter thinks bath time is play time.

CUT TO: Kellerman: I will clean it up. Scout's honor. Sorry.

Manager: All right. Have a nice day.

Kellerman: Yeah. You too.

(He shuts the door and puts the chain on. He puts the saw down on the plastic sheet and sits down on the bed.)

[EXT. Desert. Day.]

(Aldo pursues Michael, who is being protected by Sucre. Lincoln holds Aldo back.)

Aldo: Michael!

Lincoln: Michael!

Aldo: Michael, please, wait.

Lincoln: He did this to you?

Aldo: Lincoln!

Lincoln (to Michael): He did this to you? Did he do this to you?

(Michael glances at his father, almost in tears.)

Lincoln: Michael.

Michael (to Aldo): How could you do that to another human being?

*FLASHBACK*

[Young Michael cowers in the dark closet, his face grubby and bleeding.]

Michael (v/o): ...with your own hands?

[The closet door opens. Young Michael looks up in terror. Aldo is standing there.]

Younger Aldo: It's okay. You're safe now. He's not gonna hurt you anymore. Come on. Come with me and don't look back.

[He leads Young Michael out of the closet, but Michael turns back to look and gasps. His foster father is lying dead on the floor, blood pooling around his head. He looks up at his father in horror, then runs out of the house.]

Younger Aldo: Michael!

*END FLASHBACK*

Aldo: Michael...it's gonna be all right.

[INT. Motel. Day.]

(Kellerman hears the water draining from the tub. He picks up his gun and walks into the bathroom. The tub is empty and Sara is gone. Suddenly she jumps out from behind the door holding the scalding iron. She forces it onto his chest, burning him. Kellerman screams in pain and collapses to the floor.)

(Sara hurriedly puts everything back in her bag. She tries to step over Kellerman, but he grabs at her legs. She turns and pushes the screen from the bathroom window. It's quite a drop - but there's a car directly below the window. Sara looks back at Kellerman, who is reaching for his gun. She takes a breath and jumps out, landing on the windscreen and shattering it. The car alarm wails.)

CUT TO: Kellerman in the bathroom. He struggles to get up.

Kellerman: Sara!

(He looks out of the window. Sara is gone.)

OPENING CREDITS.

[EXT. Desert. Day.]

(Mahone walks across to the shack and enters. It's empty - he notes Coyote's blood on the floor, and the vials of fishing reel oil. Then he sees a trail of bloody foot prints, and follows them out of the shack.)

[EXT. Desert. Day.]

Michael: Six months. Six months I was in that place. Where were you? How long did you know?

Aldo: I found you as soon as I could. The state kept moving you around.

Michael: Then you went away again, right?

Aldo: You don't think it killed me, to leave you like that? To leave in the first place? Since the beginning, I was the problem. Since day one. Your lives are what they are because of me.

Michael: Yes, Linc told me about The Company. Apparently, you were some kind of analyst. That's the job you chose over your family.

Aldo: I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought I was protecting you.

Michael: From what, Dad? From who?

Aldo: The Company had enemies. I was important to The Company. I became a target. Easiest way to get to me would be to get to you. I left as soon as I realised how corrupt it all was. How they were buying the government.

Michael (yelling): You could have come back at any time!

Aldo: No, I couldn't! Michael, turning on The Company put me and you at even greater risk. I had to stay away.

Michael: We were your sons.

Aldo: And you still are, Michael. We can fix this. I came back so that we could fix this.

Michael: This can never be fixed.

Aldo: There's a tape. It gives us everything we need. Linc will be set free if we find it.

Lincoln: You're not gonna believe who he thinks has it.

Michael: Who?

Lincoln: Sara.

[EXT. Motel. Day.]

(Kellerman holds an ice pack to his burnt chest, and is on his cell phone.)

Kellerman: Yes, tall, slender, brown hair, brown eyes. She'd be pretty banged up.

Woman (v/o): No one matching that description has been brought into the ER.

(Kellerman looks at his phone: It reads, "Call Waiting: William Kim". He answers it.)

Kellerman: Kellerman.

Bill Kim: The report on Sara Tancredi?

Kellerman: She's dead. I'm dealing with the body right now.

Kim (disbelieving): You must be relieved that it's over.

Kellerman: Yeah. Yeah, I gotta go, Bill.

Kim: One more thing. Confirmation. I need a photo of the body before disposal. Take one with your phone and send it to me, and I'll...

Kellerman: Bill, not a good time right now, all right?

Kim: Paul, take a breath...then take the picture. I'm waiting.

(He hangs up and Kellerman sighs.)

[Title Card: Harvey, North Dakota.]

[EXT. Lake. Day.]

(C-Note sits by the lake with his daughter, reading her a story.)

C-Note: 'They traveled into a very dangerous place. Now, Arvid knew that, but he held tightly onto the dragon's leash anyway, as the creature ran into the ever-dark forest, pulling the young boy behind him'.

Dede: Why didn't he just let go of the leash?

C-Note: Well, because he loved the dragon. And when you love someone, you'll do anything to hold onto them. Anything to keep them safe and happy.

(Kacee comes out the camper van and watches them.)

Dede: Is that why we're camping?

C-Note: Yep. So we can all be together.

Dede: I'm happy.

C-Note: You know, I'm happy too. (He looks back and sees Kacee. He hands Dede the book.) Here you go. (He walks over to Kacee.) Well, it's all working out, huh?

Kacee: Don't say that. (She knocks on the wood.)

C-Note: You know, this moment, right here, right now...it's all worth it. I love you.

Kacee: I love you.

[Title Card: Tribune. Kansas.]

[INT. Police Station. Day.]

(Bellick waits in Detective Slattery's office. He paces for a bit, then walks over to her desk and looks at a photo of her with her family. Detective Slattery enters.)

Slattery: Oh, that's old. The kids are bigger now.

Bellick: Sorry, I was just...

Slattery: Oh, getting bored out of your wits because you've been waiting so long. I'm really sorry about all this. We don't get a whole bunch of homicides out here and we're trying to play catch-up. Please, have a seat. I'm real sorry about your friend.

Bellick: It's a sick world out there.

Slattery: Ain't that the truth. So you guys out here in Kansas together?

Bellick: Yeah, that's right.

Slattery: Doing what?

Bellick: You know, just seeing the sights.

Slattery: You left Chicago to see the sights in Tribune, Kansas?

Bellick: Last time I checked, a man could go where he wanted.

Slattery: Mr. Bellick.

Bellick: Brad.

Slattery: Brad. I don't really care what you were doing out here. We're both in law enforcement. We can each sniff out a perp like a hot fart. Pardon my French. And we both know you're not a criminal. So, I don't care if you boys were out here whooping it without your wives...or going Brokeback.

Bellick: What? Hell no!

Slattery: My point is, I don't care what you were doing. I just need to know where you were doing it and who you might have crossed paths with so I can find out who carved up Mr. Geary.

Bellick: Geary and I got a lead that one of the Fox River Eight was in town.

Slattery: Which one?

Bellick: Theodore Bagwell.

Slattery: The man who did all those horrible things to those teenagers?

Bellick: That's him. We were gonna bring him in for the reward money, but we couldn't get a handle on him. Geary and I split up, we figured we'd have a shot, but...

Slattery: But what?

Bellick: Well, after what happened, I'm starting to think maybe Geary ran into old Bagwell after all.

Slattery: Right here in Tribune? Now, Brad...do you think you could answer some questions that might help us, you know, track down Theodore Bagwell? I'd be indebted.

Bellick: I'll do whatever I can to help nail that son of a bitch.

[EXT. Desert. Day.]

Michael: You think Sara has this tape?

Aldo: The government does.

Michael: I just saw her yesterday. If she does have anything, she doesn't know.

Aldo: Well, where is she now?

Michael: I don't know.

Lincoln: Any way you can get in touch with her?

Michael: We bought cell phones, I could call her.

Sucre: Please, please, please, bro. Call her from Panama, please. We got less than two hours. I gotta make that flight.

(Rocks clatter behind them.)

Michael: Shh, shh, shh...

Sucre: What?

(They all stare over at the rocks, and suddenly Mahone is looming over them, raising his gun.)

Lincoln: Run. Run!

(Mahone opens fire on them and they duck down by the rocks.)

Lincoln (to Sucre): Where's this car you keep talking about?!

Sucre: It's over the ridge.

Aldo (takes Sucre's gun): Gimme that. You guys head for the car. Go!

(Michael, Lincoln and Sucre take off running while Aldo and Mahone shoot at each other.)

Lincoln: Come on, come on!

CUT TO: Aldo and Mahone, still trading shots.

CUT TO: The other guys. They reach the car and jump in.

Lincoln: Come on, go, go, go! Pick up Dad!

(Sucre reverses the car.)

Michael: Dad! Get in!

(Aldo turns around and runs towards the car. Mahone fires several shots at him, but he makes it to the car.)

Michael: Come on, Dad!

(Sucre roars away, cheering.)

Sucre: Woo-hoo-hoo! We made it! Son of a bitch, we made it!

(They are all smiling until Michael realises Aldo is slumped forward. He pulls him back gently: he has taken a bullet to the stomach.)

Michael: Linc...

ACT 2.

[EXT. Desert Road. Day.]

Michael: Sucre, get us to a hospital.

Sucre: Out here? Where am I gonna find...?

Michael: Just get us to a hospital, please! (to Aldo.) Don't worry, you're gonna make it.

Aldo: It's bile. He got me clean through.

Lincoln: You're gonna be okay. Just...hold on.

Aldo: Listen to me. Both of you. Sorry. I wish I'd never left. (He coughs.)

Michael: Don't talk. Just breathe. Okay?

[EXT. Lake in North Dakota. Day.]

(Kacee mans the barbecue while C-Note sits next to Dede at a picnic table.)

C-Note: Okay, so do you want a P, B & B?

Dede: Not really. My tummy hurts.

C-Note: Huh.

Kacee: Where's her knapsack?

C-Note: Her what?

Kacee: Her knapsack. Her medicine's in it.

C-Note: I don't know, baby, I just grabbed her and ran.

Kacee: She needs that medicine. She can't go two days without it.

C-Note: Okay, I know. I'm her father, okay?

Kacee (frantically looking in her purse): Where is it?

C-Note: Baby, baby, look, look, calm down. What are you looking for? Just tell me what it is and I'll go ahead and get it, okay?

Kacee: Her prescription. (She finds it and hands it over.) It's a backup. I keep an extra, in case.

C-Note: Okay, okay. So all we need to do is find a pharmacy. Don't worry. (To Dede.) Hey, looks like we're going on a ride, sweet pea.

[INT. Police Station. Day.]

(Bellick grabs a coffee and a donut.)

Bellick: If we nail Bagwell, he might still have some of Geary's things on him...like his backpack, which has his personal stuff in it. I know his wife would love to have it.

Slattery: If we find Bagwell, you can give it to her personally.

Bellick: Thanks.

Slattery: It's the least I can do, considering how you're helping me out. Although some of the guys on the force are concerned about...

Bellick: What are they concerned about?

Slattery: Oh, nothing. You know what? Why don't you tell me what you know? We'll track down Bagwell, we'll give Geary's effects back to his family and I'll make sure everybody involved knows that your help was invaluable. I'll even recommend that you get most of, if not all of, that reward money.

Bellick: Well, what is it exactly that the guys on the force were concerned about?

Slattery: Well, some of them thought that you weren't being totally upfront about your head injury. I mean, to be fair, it does seem a little off that you didn't see the guy who hit you smack-dab on the forehead.

Bellick: You got me. Geary and me had a little dust-up over how to go about finding Bagwell. It got physical, and he hit me. The two of us, we fought like brothers. I didn't wanna rat him out to the cops. After the fight, we split up. And then... (Bellick works up some fake tears to sell his story.) ... well, you know what happened. I just wish to hell we'd never fought, you know? Maybe then, he'd still be...

Slattery: Brad, you can't blame yourself. Why don't we refocus our energy on finding the man who killed your friend?

Bellick: That's what Roy would have wanted. (He takes another bite of his donut.)

[EXT. Pharmacy. Day.]

(C-Note waits in the camper van outside the pharmacy, anxious and worried. Dede is sitting in the back.)

C-Note: Where you at, baby?

[INT. Pharmacy. Day.]

(Kacee waits at the counter.)

Pharmacist: Insurance card?

Kacee: Uh, no, I don't have insurance.

Pharmacist: You're paying for dexamethasone without insurance? You got Medicaid, Medicare or something?

Kacee: Nope. Um, I'll just pay cash.

Pharmacist: It's 125.

(She moves to the counter to bag the medication, but sees the newspaper underneath the bag she just picked up - C-Note and Kacee are on the front page.)

Kacee: Excuse me. Excuse me? (She holds up the cash.)

Pharmacist: Oh, sorry.

Kacee (handing over two $100): I'm sorry I don't have anything smaller.

Pharmacist: Um, I have to go to the back to get change for a hundred. I'll be right back.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(Sucre speeds down the road.)

Lincoln: Right there, hospital!

Sucre: I see it, I see it.

Michael: Just get us there.

Aldo: No, you'll be caught.

Michael: Then we'll be caught. I'm not gonna let you die.

Aldo: Then listen to me. You find Sara Tancredi. She can end this. It's up to you now.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(Mahone is in his own car, speeding down the road.)

Mahone (on phone): Yeah, I want an alarm out on a dark blue sedan, license AE 9268. Forty miles southeast of Las Cruces. Do it now.

(He flips the phone off but it rings again.)

Mahone: Oh, come on. (He answers it.) What? What hospital?

ACT 3.

[INT. Hospital. Day.]

(A local police officer escorts Mahone into a hospital room.)

Officer: Came in with a bad GSW. Docs called us in. He's in here. We ran his name. Came back with two federal drug-smuggling warrants out on him.

Mahone: Heard you wanted to talk to me.

Coyote: I got some information the feds want. About Michael Scofield. Like where he's catching a ride.

Mahone: And where would that be?

Coyote: It's not just the where, but the when. That when is coming up soon. But I wanna cut a deal first.

Mahone (to the officer): Give us a minute?

[EXT. Rural Outback. Day.]

(Michael and Lincoln sit by a makeshift grave. Sucre sits on the car, a way away.)

Lincoln: Anything you wanna say?

Michael: One day. That's all we had. Back then, when things were at their worst, there were days when I thought I'd never see the sun again. But he saved my life. Just wish he could've let us be a part of his.

Lincoln: Yeah.

[INT. Hospital. Day.]

Mahone (on phone): I'll tell him. (He hangs up. To Coyote.) Here's the deal. All charges dropped, government picks up medical costs until you're fit to be deported. All contingent upon your information being accurate. Where's Scofield?

Coyote: No deportation. I want citizenship.

Mahone: Citizenship?

Coyote: A little incentive, and I want it in writing.

Mahone: Oh, I am so tired of playing games.

Coyote: Well, start typing.

(Mahone walks over and begins unplugging Coyote's machines.)

Mahone: No external pacemaker. Hey, this is a good one. No morphine drip.

Nurse (at the doorway): What are you doing?

Mahone: FBI. Out, out, out. (He kicks the door shut.)

Coyote: What the hell are you doing?

Mahone: Giving you a little incentive.

Coyote: Come on. Come on, you son of a -- !

[INT. Police Station. Day.]

Slattery (on phone): And they found nothing? Okay, thanks. (She hangs up.) Well, your instincts are great, Brad. But the precinct actually sent a unit over to Hollander's house today. An anonymous caller said they saw an intruder but no one was there.

Bellick: Damn it.

Slattery: If you knew about Bagwell and Hollander, why didn't you just head over there yourself?

Bellick: Oh, we couldn't find the house.

Slattery: Really? It's listed.

(There's a knock at the door and another detective looks in.)

Slattery (to Bellick): Excuse me. (The detective hands her an envelope. She opens it.) Thank you.

Bellick: Everything okay?

Slattery: Yeah, yeah, everything's fine. Brad, have you ever been to the Fauntleroy Hotel? It's about 15 minutes from here.

Bellick: Never heard of it.

Slattery: Well, that's strange. Because they found this receipt in Geary's hotel room. It's from your credit card. (She shows Bellick a bagged receipt with blood on it.)

Bellick: I don't know how that got there.

*FLASHBACK*

[T-Bag lounges in Geary's hotel room. He looks through the bag of money, and finds the receipt. He smiles.]

*END FLASHBACK*

Slattery: I think you're being evasive. You should tell me the truth, Mr. Bellick.

Bellick: What happened to 'Brad'?

Slattery: About seven years ago, I got my first homicide case. A woman. Pretty. She was brutally attacked. Animal boyfriend left her for dead. But she was still breathing, barely. But she punched into her cell phone the killer's number, so she solved the crime for us. When we found the receipt, Brad, it was in Geary's hand, his finger pointing to your name - with his last ounce of strength he told us you killed him.

Bellick: Okay, listen. Geary and I found Bagwell in Hollander's house. We roughed him up until he told us where he'd hid the 5 million bucks we knew he'd dug up in Utah. When we found the money, Geary double-crossed me, he hit me in the head and took the cash. I had nothing to do with Geary's death! You hear what I'm saying? I'm the victim here, not that son of a bitch.

[EXT. Pharmacy. Day.]

C-Note: Oh, come on, come on, come on. Where you at, baby?

[INT. Pharmacy. Day.]

(Kacee waits anxiously at the counter.)

Kacee: Hey, uh, could you hurry it up? It's just, it's getting really late and I gotta get home.

(The pharmacist walks over slowly with the medication and the change.)

Pharmacist: Okay, so that's 20, 40, 50 and 20 is 70. One, two, three, four, five...is 75.

(Kacee snatches up the money and the pills and walks out quickly, almost bumping into another customer.)

Kacee: Excuse me.

(She exits the store and sees a police car drive up, lights flashing. She backs away to a trash can and discreetly drops the medicine into it.)

CUT TO: C-Note: You gotta be kidding me.

Officer: Ma'am?

Kacee: Afternoon, officer.

Officer: Do you have any ID with you?

Kacee: No, I walked over here so I didn't carry anything with me.

Officer: Did you? Where'd you walk from?

Kacee: Is there a problem, officer?

Officer: There's only a problem if you make one, Miss Franklin. You want to tell us where your husband is?

Kacee: I don't know.

Officer: Place your hands behind your back please, ma'am.

(Kacee glances over at C-Note.)

C-Note: Oh, baby, I'm so sorry.

(Kacee is put into the back of the police car and driven away.)

C-Note: Oh, my God...

Dede: Where's Mommy?

C-Note: Mommy is gonna meet us later, okay?

[EXT. Hospital. Day.]

(Kellerman walks out holding some prescription bags, and answers his phone.)

Kellerman (on phone): Yes?

Kim (v/o): Where's the photo?

Kellerman: Bill, there was a tactical error.

Kim: I don't want terminology from the Cover Your Ass Handbook, Paul. What happened?

Kellerman: There were unforeseen circumstances. Things that could not be predicted.

Kim: Where's Sara? She's gone, isn't she?

Kellerman: Yes. She got away. But there is no way that she...

(Bill Kim furiously and definitely hangs up the phone.)

Kellerman: Bill?

[INT. Bathroom Stall. Day.]

(Sara uses a lighter to sterilize a needle. She threads it and begins to stitch a deep gash on her arm. She grunts in pain.)

[EXT. Rural Outback. Day.]

(Michael and Lincoln sit silently beside the grave.)

*FLASHBACK*

[Michael cradles Aldo in the back of Sucre's car.]

Michael: I'm not gonna let you die.

Aldo: I love you. You know that, don't you?

[Aldo's head falls forward onto Michael's chest. Michael strokes his hair, tears pouring down his face.]

*END FLASHBACK*

Michael: Too many. Too many people died because I wanted you to be free.

Lincoln: You couldn't have known, Michael. You couldn't have known it would've ended up like this.

Michael: But it did. They wanted him. They wanted him in the ground, and they got their wish.

Lincoln: This thing's not gonna end here, Michael.

Michael: I know.

Lincoln: It's gonna keep spreading. Their hands are gonna get more and more bloody.

Michael: The question is, is the blood on their hands or ours?

Sucre (walks over): I'm sorry, guys. We gotta go.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(Mahone speeds along in his car, on his cell phone.)

Mahone: Get back on with border patrol. Call the Navy Reserve Air Station in Dallas. They've got planes on alert. We need an intercept of a white single-engine A-36 Beech heading toward the border. Call Mexico. Get clearance for an international pursuit. Tell them if they gotta take the plane down, just do it.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(The white plane comes down to land. Michael, Lincoln and Sucre go to meet it. Sucre excitedly rushes over to it and climbs on.)

Sucre: Come on, guys! (They hang back.) Guys, come on. Come on, guys. (They still don't move.) What?!

Michael: We're staying.

(Sucre jumps down in shock. The pilot says something in Spanish and Sucre replies. Then he turns to Michael.)

Sucre: Michael, this is what we've been waiting for.

Michael: Maybe we'll see you down there somewhere.

Sucre: I can't talk you out of this one, can I? Oh, I hope so. (He goes to embrace Michael.)

Michael: Be good.

Sucre: Thank you, Michael. Thank you for everything. (He shakes hands with Lincoln.) You take care of him, all right?

Lincoln: I will.

Michael: Fly safe, papi.

Sucre: Give them hell!

(He gets into the plane and shuts the door. The propeller whirs and the plane taxis down the road.)

Lincoln: Panama would've been good.

Michael: Are you ready for this?

Lincoln: Been waiting years.

Michael: Good to hear it. Because today's the day we stop running.

ACT 4.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

Lincoln: What now?

Michael: We go back to the car, drive to a border town, find a cell phone signal and call Sara.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(The plane has taken off and flies over Mahone's car.)

Mahone (screams): Where the hell are those jets?!

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(Michael and Lincoln are in their car. The sound of jets fills the air.)

Michael: You hear that?

Lincoln: Yeah.

Michael: Pull over.

(They stop the car, and a jet flies low overhead.)

Michael: They're going after Sucre. They're gonna take him down. How'd they find out?

Lincoln: I don't know. (He suddenly sees a car coming.) Michael.

CUT TO: Mahone, in the car. He sees Michael's car and locks onto it with curiosity.

CUT TO: Michael and Lincoln. They get into the car and speed away.

[INT. Police Station. Day.]

(Bellick paces in Slattery's office. Slattery enters.)

Bellick: I wanna know what the hell's going on. If you coulda arrested me, you would have already done it. I'm out of here.

Slattery: Not really an option for you, Mr. Bellick.

Bellick: What've you got? A receipt? He left it in his pocket. A fight? Big deal. I got 10 pals in Chicago who'll tell you Geary and I threw down once a month.

Slattery: You're right. Any one of those things on their own? Probably not enough. But when you add this? (She holds up a small tape recorder.)

Bellick: What the hell is that?

Slattery: You left a message for Mr. Geary. (She presses the recorder's button.)

Bellick (On Tape Recorder): You thieving son of a bitch. You'd better get down on your knees and pray to God that I don't find you. Because if I do, mark my words, I'm gonna gut you bow to stern.

Slattery: You wanna hear it again? Now, at this juncture, Brad, things will go a whole lot easier for you if you admit to the crime.

Bellick: Now you listen to me, you manipulative little bitch! (Shouting.) I did not kill Roy Geary! You understand what I'm telling you?

(Two officers hurry into the room to restrain him.)

Bellick: Bagwell set me up! Get your hands off of me!

Slattery: Brad Bellick, you are under arrest for the first degree murder of Roy William Geary. You have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and to have him present with you when being questioned. If you cannot hire a lawyer, the court will appoint one for you.

[EXT. Pay Phone. Night.]

(Kellerman puts a coin in the pay phone slot and dials.)

Woman (on phone): President Reynolds' office.

Kellerman: This is Agent Paul Kellerman. I need to speak with the president right now, please.

Woman (v/o): I'm sorry, this administration isn't familiar with an Agent Kellerman.

Kellerman: June, it's me. I need to speak with Caroline now. June, if you don't put me through I'll make certain the president knows that you were the one that did not allow me to provide her with some very important information. Now.

Woman (v/o): I'm sorry, this administration isn't familiar with an Agent...

(Kellerman hangs up in disbelief. He calls another number.)

Answerphone Message: Please leave a message after the tone.

Kellerman: Bill, don't do this.

CUT TO: Bill Kim, standing over the shoulder a man sitting at a computer.

Kellerman (v/o): I've dedicated my life to this country. To Caroline. Everything I have, I give.

Kim: Every photo. Every file. Get rid of it all. Make him a ghost.

(The computer guy begins to crop photographs and removing Kellerman from them.)

Kellerman (v/o): I've been a perfect soldier. I've never asked anything of you, ever. But I'm asking now. Bill, don't do this.

[EXT. Road. Day.]

(Michael and Lincoln are still driving.)

Lincoln: I don't see him.

Michael: Trust me, we haven't lost him yet.

(He looks at his cell phone. It reads: 'No Service'. As he watches, it suddenly changes to 'Connecting', then 'No Service'.)

Michael: Linc, stop the car.

Lincoln: What?

Michael: We gotta stop the car. That's a radio tower over there. It must be picking up some kind of analog signal. We gotta get closer. Turn around.

Lincoln: What about your friend back there?

Michael: If we're gonna go down, might as well go down swinging.

(Lincoln turns the car around. Michael calls Sara as Lincoln speeds along.)

Michael: All right. Come on, come on, come on, come on. We are in business. It's going through.

Lincoln: All right.

Michael: Come on, Sara, pick up. Pick up, pick up, pick up.

[Suddenly, Mahone's car emerges from the darkness and impacts their car hard on the passenger side. The cars spin and screech to a stop. Michael and Lincoln slowly emerge from their burning car. A few feet away, Michael's cell phone is ringing.]

Michael: Sara.

[He crawls towards it. Mahone steps out of his car, gun drawn. He points his gun at the brothers.]

Sara (v/o): Hello? Hello, Michael? Michael? Michael?
